I feel as though my continued posts where Cenk refuses to demonize Palestinians seems anti-Israel. It is not that I am anti-Israel, it is just that this is the first time in my 40 years of life that someone with a "voice" considers the humanity of Palestinians. I am ashamed to have been unimpressed with their horror until recent years. I have always known the Israeli horror, now I am able to see the other side. Here is more of their plight.

1. K & R. Cenk addressed the various youtube comments on his Israel Vs. Palestine clips recently.
Edited on Fri Jan-02-09 06:28 PM by ihavenobias
He must be doing SOMETHING right considering that the vast majority of comments go something like this:

1.You Zionist pig! You're part of the pro-Israel media.

2.You antisemitic pig! You're supporting Palestinian terrorists.

The obvious point here is that he's NEITHER and he's right where he should be (i.e. giving an actual balanced perspective we almost never get in the MSM).

3. I disagree
they still shouldn't be firing the rockets from the city.

But even if they were using civilians as shields, does Israel care?

4. If only the view of Israel is considered,
then one simply loses the fact that the Palestinians have the right to land and life. They have a right not to be occupied by an aggressor.

If you condemn rocket attacks from Palestine, you must also condemn the occupation and its brutality, you must condemn the deaths of Palestinian women and children, and the bullets that kill Palestinian children at their desks.

Israel has caused more disruption, pollution, starvation and deprivation than anyone else in the middle east.

5. Maybe they should take a trip and fire the rockets from outside Israel?
The city is where they live and there is a wall around it. If Israel built a wall around my town and did what they could to terrorize my neighbors, you can bet we would be doing a lot more than firing rockets. If I from Washington state cannot imagine how both sides see this conflict then imagine how hard it is if you live there.

If you take into account Geneva Conventions, unequal response and basic human rights to exist, there is one side that is especially wrong. And the folks that want to jump on me for blaming Israel first are using the same arguments Republicans used against our community calling us "blame America first" which is pretty outrageous and dishonest.

Only cowards will not take a stand here in support of civilian Palestinians.

6. "Human shields" that aren't being shown by the media.
Warning, graphic images. For the sake of humanity, please don't delete.

8. expose Israel's real motivation...
No. 1: WATER and No. 2: natural gas

Check factbook.org and wikipedia.org for the natural resources of both the West Bank and the Gaza Strip...the "highlands (of the West Bank) are the main recharge area for Israel's coastal aquifers...read this article that details the history of the water crisis: http://www.thejerusalemfund.org/images/informationbrief.php?ID=115 particularly, the paragraph titled Water Consumption.

Google "Gaza Strip natural gas" for an article from Jan 08 written on the Electronic Intifada's website, a site devoted to shedding light on the P-I conflict and told from a Palestinian perspective.

This conflict is not about "who's got the best imaginary friend"

11. I've been thinking about this for a while now
The conflict in Israel is what got me interested in world matters over 12 years ago. I think the only solution that is viable right now to end the bloodshed is for the united states to recognize palestine as a nation. Right now the crimes committed by both sides fall into a grey area since palestine is not an internationally recognized state, and therefore doesn't fall under protection of any international law with regard to sovereignty. However, make palestine a state, a country, and see if either side after wards is willing to risk their standing among the world and the UN by being a COUNTRY that commits an act of war to another COUNTRY, both with some sort of international backing, and tangible political clout.
