1. Through the tears, I thank you.... this means so much
Though I still have my beloved doggy girl, Tallulah for a while longer, I know her time is limited and I treasure every moment with this precious gift of unconditional love. May all who have lost their treasures this year be comforted by what they brought to your life and when the time is right, please honor them by opening your heart to another.

All my love to the animal lovers and caretakers of DU (and the world). :loveya:

2. Very nice, 48, very nice.
Lost two of my buddies this year; Dottie, the bouvier, and Sinbad, the parrot. Both were sudden and unexpected.

Going to go give the rest of my animal family a hug. They give so much, and expect so little in return.

5. :(
I lost my KC this past week. She was the best animal/cat I've ever had the privilege of owning. She's a house cat and got outside while I was at work, and her kidneys failed on her three weeks later when we found her dying in our backyard. We looked just about daily and called for her, but to no avail. I think she came home when she got sick, but it was too late.

11. I'm so sorry.
Tears will leave no stain.
Time will heal the pain.
For every life that fades
Something beautiful remains.

8. putting the music
with the pictures is ALWAYS the part that makes me grab a tissue.

I feel lucky to make these tributes, to honor (as livvy so aptly put it) those who give so much and expect so little in return.

10. I can't watch...too emotional
thank you----- we love them so much, they're such a connection to our hearts.

Lost my 11 yr old Pom, TeenyBeanieWeenie in April, suddenly and unexpectedly. Yet, there was a noticeable something, a feeling, during the month or two before she left, and our lives were in a big transition.

Well, bit of a long story, but the point is, there were synchronicities.
I still love her so much....so very special, my little silly baby.

watch the video. I'm afraid that if I do, I'll start crying and never stop.

Both for my own pain and for the pain of others who have lost beloved friends.

I lost my Puppy Sarge November 14, 2008...her 12th birthday. She was a beautiful red and black German Shepherd with just the sweetest personality I've ever seen on any dog.

It was sudden and unexpected, and relatively quick. I miss her so much and I can't yet look at any photos of her. Again, because I'm afraid I'll start crying and never stop.

I also have two other old doggies, Amy and Samantha.

Amy is a black Lab with lots of tumors on her. Too many to remove safely, although at this point she doesn't appear to be in any pain and is eating and sleeping and acting normally. She's 12 1/2 years old.

Samantha is a sable German Shepherd who is 13 1/2 years old. She is deaf, losing her eyesight, and gradually losing the ability to walk.

I don't believe that either one of them will be with us next winter. If either makes it through this winter I'll be very surprised.

When they're gone, I don't know what Mr Pip and I will do. I grew up always having some pet or another. But it seems the older I get, the harder it is to recover from their loss. They're like my children.

Anyway, thank you for this thread.

My heartfelt sympathies go out to anyone else who has loved and lost a furry (or feathered or whatever) friend.

26. oh, that must be extra hard having them all so close in age
I knew a woman who adopted one senior dog after another. I am so fond of my getting-senior-though-I'm-in-denial dogs that I think about my next dog being a senior. But then I think about the situation you're in and I don't know how strong I'd be.

Our dear kitty Kafka, who lost her battle with cancer over Christmas.

Here she is a couple of days before she left us. Even after 17 years of life and 2 months fighting cancer, she still looked and acted like a kitten.

Thank you for the beautiful video. My sympathies to all who lost their furry friends this year. From someone who is owned by my mixed beagle, Skippy and cat, Miss Kitty, and many more who are waiting at the Rainbow bridge. God bless you all for opening your heart and home to your friends. 41. What a nice memorial to all our departed friends.
I lost my cat Max in November 2002. He was 16 years old. I still think of him almost every day.

I have two cats now, one from a shelter and another that was rescued from an abusive home. I love them both, and cherish every moment I can with them. Their time here with us is too short, no matter how old they live to be.
