On September 27, 2006, sixty five Senators voted to legalize torture. In this clip, Sen. Kerry speaks out against the Senate bill.

Pretty sure Chairman Kerry will put this topic front and center on the SFRC's agenda.

5. I recall being really disappointed in Menendez
He was new, and I had high hopes. His vote on this was a real let down.

6. oh, you're right - I read it too fast and skipped from Lieberman to Nelson
I only noticed Menendez in the last year and a half of listening to SFRC hearings. He always seems to ask probing questions and not suffer fools. He works on international aid via another committee too, doesn't he?

4. There were 2 votes on this
http://www.senate.gov/legislative/LIS/roll_call_lists/vote_menu_109_2.htm

Vote 259 was for cloture on the bill. It could have been filibustered, but was not.
260 was for passage of the bill.
