2. Where was this scrutiny from Congress when the leaches from Wall St. and the financial institutions
sought money?

I noticed most of the senators who grandstanded during this hearing were from the South, where their states bent over backwards with money to lure foreign automakers to them. Because they're newer than the Big Three, they don't have their legacy costs. So the Richard Shelbys and others make these simplistic arguments against GM, Ford and Chrysler's bailout requests.

I think there are some things the Big Three need to prove before I'm comfortable granting them taxpayer money, but why the double standard? Where was the outrage when the financial leaches requested taxpayer money? And they're still getting hundreds of billions with little scrutiny.

That's my beef over this whole thing.

3. I agree. The financial companies get a gift of 20 times as much money

based on a 3 page no strings "plan." The automakers, who actually build something, not just move numbers around, get sent back home to write a 100 page essay, then have to drive back to the principal's office. And they just want to borrow a nickel for every dollar the financials got for free. Where did you say the Secretary of the Treasury used to work? General Motors? No, that's not it.
