1. This is odd that the prosecutor was not aware of a hearing.
When this story broke, I believe it said the hearing was set for Friday, not Thursday. Why is this prosecutor going to be removed from five of the nine charges? I had no idea that was possible. Under what conditions is this possible?

3. Why has there not been any coverage on this in the MSM?
One would think that a story about The Vice President being indicted by a Texas grand jury for organized crime would have some legs. Go Figure!

5. They tried another trick...
They quickly scheduled a hearing right after charges were filed, they probably knew he was going out of town because his phone is bugged. If you don't believe that ...get a clue will ya. This is the most corrupt administration in the history of this country...dicky boy has all his opposition bugged
guarenteed!!!!!!
:evilfrown: thanks for the post...and keep us up on this one!!!!

6. Thank God for that judge-he could have gone ahead with the hearing
with the DA in absentia and who knows what would have happened. Good for him.

7. After today's initial and somewhat heated hearing,
Edited on Fri Nov-21-08 06:19 PM by anotheryellowdog
the parties have been tentatively scheduled to return to court next Wednesday.

Willacy County District Attorney Juan Angel Guerra asked Presiding Judge Manuel Banales to recuse himself from the case, which alleges abuse at federally run prisons.

- snip -

Guerra said the judge was wrong to allow motions to quash the indictments to be heard before the defendants were arraigned.

Banales called a recess so he could try to contact the chief justice of the state Supreme Court for suggestions on how to proceed...

- snip -

After the recess, Banales adjourned for the day and announced that he would send all documents pertaining to the recusal motion to the chief justice {of the state Supreme Court}. He tentatively scheduled the parties to return to court Wednesday.
