KRISTOL: Ted Stevens, the 40-year incumbent in Alaska, recently convicted of seven counts of something-or-other, hangs on in Alaska. The voters of Alaska are loyal to their man. They don’t believe some D.C. grand jury. (Laughter.) Stevens hangs on, which helps Republicans keep the Democratic margin in the Senate reasonable.

And of course, since John McCain is going to take that narrow path to the presidency, let me add, he’ll be there to stop that Democratic Congress with overwhelming majorities from doing all the damage –

WALLACE: He doesn’t just quit right away. He stays in the Senate until his appeal is done?

Some people, like Kristol, are widely regarded as intelligent, yet get a lot of things wrong, even badly wrong. Some people who make very few mistakes aren't recognized as being very intelligent. Some intelligent people have holes in their intellectual spectrum. They get things wrong in fields they don't know much about, or admit they don't know. Politics is supposed to be Kristol's specialty, though. And some people seem jinxed. No matter that their official IQ is significantly above average, say 120, everything they touch seems to turn to crap. Can anyone think of an example? Here's a hint: His middle name starts with a W, and he is considered by many to be the "Worst ______ ever."

We'd be hearing about impending flooding in Death Valley, snowless winters

Now what did Billy Boy know about how they were going to count those ballots in Alaska?

Why were the repuke area ballots in Alaska counted first, and how would Billy Boy know this. Why were the early votes counted last?

There is something very strange about the Alaskan ballot counting.
