The Daily Show had this clip on last night and this is an ALL TIME KEEPER. Funny how I had to go pages deep into youtube to find it and none of the press coverage dares to contain this little slice of clarity-everything that I have read this morning ignores this part.

CLASSIC!

I edited this to refer to it as "Leahy3" because his entire testimony is very well documented(by Senator) on YouTube in case you need to find parts of it or didn't have the chance to watch it yesterday.

1. Gonzales: "I remember being on the Titanic...
I just don't remember buying the ticket, boarding, unpacking,
or hitting an iceberg."

2. Rainman - Hoffman - that's who he reminds me off- i have struggled with this
The exact same inflection of speech / tone / insistence when he said his underpants HAD to get purchased at Walmart.

3. but....
::enter frustrated hands here:: What is he talking about.

With all the republicans calling for his resignation, I think Gonzales should stay and bring down the entire administration with him.

4. Welcome to DU
:hi: if'n I haven't before

One thing we have to keep in mind is that no matter how many times his name was indirectly mentioned yesterday and no matter how many times Gonzales was asked he never gave up Rove. For that he will get seats on Board of Directors and fellowships at thinktanks and any number of freemoney positions once he (they) are out of office.

They take care of their people, that is one of the ways they find people to do what they want to for them. Remember Condi Rice was actually a highly paid oil company executive at one time, clearly there was no other reason than to provide her some credentials. Oh and the Iraqi lawyer who had the fantastic tale of racing across an exploding bridge while being chased by a carload of former Republican Guard complete with AKs and RPGs in his tale of how he saved Pfc. Lynch-he is now in the USA pulling down at least $50K at a DC rightwing thinktank. They take care of the "Loyal Bushies", that phrase means something to them.

Gonzo punched his ticket yesterday.

5. Odd phrasing: "I made the decision" vs "when the decision was made"
One is active and the other is passive.

Why?

6. Gonzales reminds me of
Jerry Lundegaard in Fargo! (William Macy's character.) A lying little weasel:

Jerry (voice cracking): "We're cooperating with you ma'am!" (and then in a tone of mock seriousness): "We're doing everything we can..."

9. You nailed it. The guy is guilty as hell,

sweating bullets, defensive, and just wants the questioner to go away. Perfect analogy.

You keep expecting him to "flee the interview."

And welcome to DU!

wow they are all great at remembering the times when they couldn't recall. The GOP must have special trainng school for the art of "dis-remembering"

10. Did you see the seemingly derisive amusement in his eyes, as he reiterated that he
couldn't remember when it was; as if to say, "And what are you going to do about it?"

14. Check this out:
He's totally channeling Jerry Lundegaard! Skip to about 2:14 and behold. The similarities are uncanny:
