Elizabeth is the typical neocon. When you can't win a discussion you over talk it to death. Whoopi, Joy and Sherri all laid waste to her arguments yet did she hear them? No she went off rambling about Rev Wright. Rev Wright was referencing the government in his sermon. A government who has imposed tyrannical
divisions on native and african americans. Carrying out imperial oppressions on other countries and lying to her own people. I wouldn't have used his verbiage myself but I understand it.

Barack distanced himself because Wright was becoming the issue and silencing his message to voters. Wright made a statement suggesting Obama was pandering. You can't bring people together with this kind
of volatile affirmation.

“Barack knows what it means, living in a country and a culture that is controlled by rich white people,” Wright said on Christmas Day of last year. “Hillary can never know that. Hillary ain’t never been called a !”

At one point, she actually throws her hands in the air and says "why am I trying to explain this?? To hell with it" when talking to Elisabeth. Now she's responding the way the vast majority of Americans have towards that idiot.

And Whoopie gets major, MAJOR props for saying "okay, well you say that Palin was cleared. Well so was Bill Ayers." You could see she just shattered Elisabeth's whole world.

If I remember correctly, it was not what Wright said in that sermon that caused Obama to distance
himself from Wright, but something that he said after the media dust-up caused by that sermon
hittiing the airwaves. I can't recall what it was that Wright said, but I recall feeling that it was 'way
over the top', for lack of a better expression and that Wright gave Obama little choice but to break
with him.

I don't watch The View and this is as much of it as I have ever forced myself to sit through. My
impression was that no one was particularly effective in getting their points across in a reasonable
manner. It would seem to me that Hasselbach (sp?) succeeded in getting the other three worked up
to the point where emotions took over from reason.

Sherri amazed me with what she said to the Twit about not "knowing" about the black experience and relayed that account of the Vietnam vet returning on the day MLK was assassinated, and not being able to get a cab because he was black.

I am not black but I remember going down to Florida from NY when I was 12. My parents drove through the night and I woke up in a service station in So. Carolina. There were 3 bathrooms..men, women and colored. I was appalled. There was a very good reason for Wright to say Goddamn America, because although bathrooms are no longer segregated, there is still a silent segregation going on. The dropout rate of young African Americans & the percent of African Americans in the prison system are a symptom of it. In this day and age, I continue to be appalled.
