1. voting only till 6pm seems nuts in today's world -
Edited on Thu Oct-30-08 05:20 AM by ksimons

hopefully we'll get to the point when you can vote early and easily everywhere in this country instead of making it this horribly confusing process - worse than going to the dentist. if you can buy a lottery ticket and have a paper trail and nearly never have an error only because tens of millions of dollars are at stake, they can certainly make the voting process easier because something MORE valuable, our country, is at stake.

go dems!

2. So people who work late can't vote?
Most places it seems like the big voting turnout is between 6 and 8 pm. Rig the system against working people. Hmm. Who would that favor?

3. I don't think it's nefarious, it's just Hoosier farmer time
What *IS* nefarious is the new voter ID law, and the Republican efforts to limit the number of early voting centers in NW Indiana. But the wacky polling schedule is simply Hoosiers doing things the way they always have. We just adopted daylight time and you would have thought the sky was falling the way people carry on about having to change the clocks.

And I recall one fascinating paranoid rant claiming daylight time was part of a liberal conspiracy to hype global warming by adding more sunlight to each day...

5. Hey fellow hoosier,
"adding more sunlight to each day" LOL

Personally, I like DST and think that it is one of the only things mitch has done right. What cracks me up though is the number of repubs who think DST is awful and hold that against him.

Go Obama!
Go Thompson!

6. Yeah, it's interesting where they choose to find fault with Their Man Mitch
I actually sort of liked not having to change the clocks, but it's a lot easier now to communicate with people in other time zones who need to know what time it is here.

The first time we changed, I had a student show up an hour late for class. He was from the Evansville area and his mother told him he didn't think they'd change the clocks in Greencastle, too (or that's what he claimed).

4. Clarification on University IDs!
All...

I've been a poll worker in IN since 2004. I've been a DEM judge and an inspector (will be an inspector again this Tuesday).

If you are in IN university IDs are accepted as long as:

A) They are a photo ID issued by a state school such as IU, PURDUE, Ivy Tech, etc.. (NOT a private school)

B) They have an expiration date! The date must be current or have expired sometime after the date of the last General Election (November 7, 2006)

If you do not possess an ID that is acceptable for voting purposes, Public Law 109-2005 requires the BMV to issue an Indiana State ID Card free.

For more information on this issue: http://www.in.gov/sos/photoid/
