Hispanics are now the largest minority in the United States. They number about 40 million. Representing only about nine percent of the electorate, polls of Hispanic voters indicate strong support for Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama.

Many Hispanic residents are not citizens and a large percentage of those who are citizens are under voting age.
