Author and Salon.com founder David Talbot dismisses Republican Vice Presidential Nominee Sarah Palin as a "complete fiction" created by Republican Party strategists.

Best-selling author and salon.com founder David Talbot presents his often controversial ideas about the Kennedy dynasty, Barack Obama's appeal, and the "fiction" of Sarah Palin.

Hailed as a "pioneer of online journalism" by the New York Times, David Talbot is the founder and former editor in chief of Salon. Talbot has worked as a senior editor for Mother Jones magazine and as a features editor for the San Francisco Examiner. Talbot has written for the New Yorker, Rolling Stone and other publications. He is the author of Brothers: A Hidden Journey of the Kennedy Years.

1. Talbot.....

It is true that Talbot was speaking with a member of the theocracy during this appearance. He notes he would ask Palin if she was concerned about her legacy from the current campaign relative to being a Christian. Earlier in the interview it was noted that Palin's early campaign tactics used the perception of what was a real Christian. The evangelical movement is anchored on a circuitous pattern of thought and reason, absent of any semblance of critical thinking. Talbot's logic would not penetrate the dogma of Palin and her followers. It may influence those of the tolerant Christian movement but not that of the charismatic, dogmatic evangelism noted on the far right.

2. Would Christians tolerate screams of "Kill Him!"?
I seem to recall a little incident in the Bible where there was this mob screaming for the death of an innocent man. That really didn't work out too well for those who wanted to obliterate Jesus.

It is very disturbing to hear those words screamed in a crowd and no one responds to say "No, that's not right. This is America and we don't kill people with whom we disagree."

Palin and McCain's non-response to those screams from the crowd told me everything I needed to know about how "Christian" they are.

3. In Matthew 25, Jesus makes a very clear distinction
between his true followers and his false followers.

I guess Palin supporters are too busy trying to figure out the convoluted murkiness of Revelation to read something something so clear and basic.

4. To penetrate the sham "Christian" beliefs of the fundamentalist try this line of questioning:
First, ask the individual(s) if he/she believes that God is the one, true, omnipotent ruler of the Universe. Any Christian is, of course, going to answer yes.

Next, ask the individual(s) if he/she believes that Jesus Christ is the true Son of God. Any Christian is, of course, going to answer yes.

Then, ask the person(s) if he/she is bound to obey the word of God as spoken through Jesus Christ. Again, any Christian is going to answer yes.

Finally, ask them how they reconcile their personal beliefs and actions with the words of Christ that say "Honor the commandments." One of which is "Thou shalt not kill."

Follow that question by asking if they follow Jesus' instructions that his followers are to forgive seven times seven when someone sins against them.

Or "Judge not that ye be not judged."

And then there's the old standby: "If a man smites you on the right cheek, turn to him the left cheek."

Believe me, the spin will commence immediately. There will be arguments and explanations as to why they can't follow this or that instruction by their omnipotent savior, the Son of God.

I try to end the argument by saying "So, really what you're saying is that you are doing what YOU think is right and not what God says is right."

They really do not like this line of questioning. But hopefully it does make them THINK about what the tenets of Christianity say versus what their preachers try to tell them.
