Not a political issue directly, but its a social problem. Schlichter does shed some light on the mentality of the compulsive gambler like how he's was always trying to win back the money he lost ... I think many of the poor GOP voters think the same way; they always vote Republican thinking they'll "win" this time and make up for the previous lost ground they always give up.

Schlichter was a four-year starter at Ohio State (appeared on the cover of Sports Illustrated) and was the fourth pick in the 1982 draft by the then Baltimore Colts. Schlichter was a bust in the NFL and his career suffered in part because of his compulsive gambling ... Schlichter talks with David Hartman and Dick Schaap (1984)
