I'm American, and I bought a house in Europe....don't plan to return to the US, and it has nothing to do w/jealousy. I do feel safer here, and I love the better quality of life overall--the healthcare, food, wine/beer/coffee, bread, vegetables, vista, fests, et al.

Ol' Orrin 'sick and tired' Hatch, out of his hideyhole again.

The Europeans, not to mention Asians, buy and sell American companies
practically on a whim. The Europeans, particularly, are on a spree when it
comes to owning our infrastructure. They love our drinking water systems,
and would have gone after GM and Ford, except for the fact those two mfrs.
took protective action - they trashed themselves. Ford bought several auto
mfrs. with major troubles of their own and almost zero sales in this country.
Jaguar, Lotus, Volvo, among others. Meanwhile, Ford continued to worship the
'150' while gas was on its way to over $4/gallon.

GM had an electric car 20 years or so ago. After a few months, they collected
them all and 'recycled' them. And in 20 years, they claim they will offer another electric car - if they can just work all the bugs out. And if they can
find enough fools to part with $40000 or more for this junk.
Meanwhile, the Asians already have hybrids at half the cost with proven track
records of reliability and value.

Hallelujah, gas in now under $3/gallon. So maybe ....... horse hockey.
It will go back up and $4/gallon will seem like a bargain.

And Orrin says they are jealous. Here's hoping the old fool will become one of
35 repub senators on Nov. 4, along with McRage - and will be long gone when, and
if the repub party ever surfaces again.
