4. Well now, Pat may have a point
sticking with one's race would explain why Joementum endorsed McCain rather than Obama who campaigned for his reelection. So, since Pat seems to be okay with this act of "tribalism", as Chris so aptly coined it, then he really needs to reconsider his concern on this front in order to maintain what little intellectual honesty he possesses.

6. And Lieberman supports McCain because he's white, right?
Colin Powell went into excrutiating detail in explaining his support for Obama. For Buchanan and his ilk, all thoughtful discourse goes in one ear and into the wingnut void, to be reprocessed and regurgitated as racist crap.

24. It was ugly enough to help turn the election
One of many factors (hell, the Economist even endorsed Clinton), but it helped put off a lot of undecided voters.

10. I was waiting for this-I just didn't know who was going to be the first
I guess I'm just a little surprised it was Buchanan, because , of late, he was seeming to be a bit more moderate. Oh well, what's the saying about a leopard's spots....

11. Buchanan - plays the race card and greatly disingenuously--
Powell gave plenty of compelling reasons for his endorsement. The GOP reeks. It's just easier for Buchanan to lie to himself and for his party and to deny, deny, deny the stench.

He is our funny republican we laugh at. He is a like able guy, but says the most bizarre, off the wall, fucked up stuff I hear on tv half the time. He really bats for our team. At least I hope he makes the point of ignorance so emboldened that moderate independent types take notice...?

13. As offensive as Buchanan's racism is it's just great to see the Republicans in full desperation mode
After the drubbing Powell has taken over the years for all he did in support of the lying criminals he ran The State Department for, even while continuing to be the "good soldier" by refusing to voice the truth about what Bush/Cheney/Rumsfeld/Wolfowitz/Perle et al have done to this nation, it amazes me how quickly a snide dinosaur like Buchanan -- who has been one of the architects of such atrocities as Nixon and Reagan as well as his own George Wallace-like campaign for president -- is so eager to throw Powell under the bus.

The only racially inspired motive that has anything to do with Powell's endorsement of Obama is YOUR OWN, Buchanan. Your overt, callous, offensive racist statement is typical of what the McCain campaign has become. But this should certainly have been expected considering the desperation of a party that has been feeding on its own every time one of its members tells the truth about their dangerously erratic, unstable candidate, John Sidney McCain III, and his embarrassingly unprepared, racist, fascist VP pick, Sarah Palin.

Racist statements like Buchanan's used to be enough to get people thrown off the air but, apparently, MSNBC's moral compass is not just off by 180 degrees, the needle has completely fallen off. Otherwise, Buchanan would have been handed his walking papers by now. But turn on MSNBC tomorrow morning, noon, or night and there he'll be, spouting his same archaic bullshit.

Doesn't Buchanan ever go home? Doesn't he ever feel the need to take a shower or change his clothes? He's wearing the same suit he wore back in the Nixon administration -- along with the same underwear. And that clothing, now fused to his body by years of perspiration, is a metaphor for the tired, disgusting, racist beliefs that are fused in Buchanan's addled brain.

As I said in another thread, I'm no fan of Powell's after the aid and comfort he supplied to the enemies of this nation, Bush and Cheney, but at least Powell has finally realized it's time for CHANGE. Buchanan, on the other hand, will NEVER come to that or any other realization, not even the realization that his own statements, like the one in this video, define and damn him more than any of his detractors ever could.
