This song was written for a John Cassavetes film in 1970. I am amazed at how well it works with these images of today.

1. Would that be the film "Husbands"?

It's the only one with a release date of 1970 over at IMDB. And if so, what's the film about?

2. Machine Gun McCain

It was an Italian film. Cassavetes played a gangster named Hank McCain. It really is a good movie and I recommend it to everyone. Ennio Morricone, of The Good, The Bad and The Ugly fame wrote the music. I've loved this song since I bought the imported album in 1974 - now there is a use for it. John Zorn performs this contemporary version.

3. Song takes WAY too long to make its point

Songwriter needs to learn the first rule of songwriting: The "payoff" of a song must take place at the end of the first verse.

Agree with the politics, but otherwise, this sucks.

Silverojo, there is no rule for when a song must make it's point. As a veteran Hollywood film composer and song writer for HBO I'm wondering where you get your criteria for songwriting from? The RNC?
