In college, I dated a guy who served as stage manager with the student drama society. One time, he had to come out on stage to announce that the start of the play would be delayed or something of that sort and drew a prolonged round of boos and hisses from the already frustrated audience. He said afterward that he'd never experienced anything like that before and it was strangely frightening -- that it was like being the target of a 1984 one-minute hate.

Take that, multiply it by a thousand-fold or so, and make it people who don't just see you as the bearer of bad news but who actively have a grudge against you, and it's got to be far weirder.

(For Palin, though, it was probably just one more proof that the liberal elites are out to get her.)

15. As a long time Flyers fan

I watched the game on Comcast SportsNet broadcast by my local cable company and it was impossible to hear the boos from the crowd since they were blasting music over the actual audio with the video track during the broadcast. Comcast has been a HUGE beneficiary of the cable deregulation forced on the American public by the rethug party and this was part of the their political suck up. What I want to know is if Palin spits or swallows.
