Chuck Schumer sums up the last seven weeks in a nutshell, listing the flip-flops from the administration and inadvertently labelling of the DoJ as the Department of Injustice he sums up thus: "given the unbroken stream of mishaps, missteps and misstatements the burden has shifted. It is now, arguably, up to the Department of Justice to show it behaved well, not for us to show it behaved badly".

Another great clip from the folks at http://www.youtube.com/user/Politicstv">PoliticsTV.com

2. Very nice introduction by Senator Schumer, but did Kyle Sampson
...really provide the facts Schumer and others on the committee were seeking? Sampson did not appear to come across as the person at the epicenter of the DoJ decision making processes. Instead throughout Sampson's testimony he kept insisting that he was merely a clerk, a compiler of lists, an assembler and nothing more. His vague recollections, loss of memory and outright insistence that he was never in the loop of decision making at the DoJ and White House makes he appear more as a delivery boy and note taker than as anyone considered valuable for his input by those making decisions at DoJ.

Did I miss something in Sampson's testimony? Or was he play acting and covering his tracks?

3. the legions of amnesiacs are trying to shift blame
but they are being found out. The GSA & USA hearings are showing this administration up for what they are, a pack of dissembling liars.

It seems that in the Bush administration high flyers were picked for slavish loyalty instead of the slightest hint of competence. Now they are finding out what happens when you surround yourself with talentless and spineless yes-men with a track record for habitual lying.

Now we are all supposed to believe the fall guys when they beg for clemency using these excuses:
  • I don't remember
  • I honestly don't remember
  • No really, it's completely slipped my mind

Fat chance. Bush could 'restore honesty and integrity to the Whitehouse' by resigning and taking Cheney with him.
