Ed Rollins ran Ronald Reagan's presidential campaign in 1984.

1. nail meet coffin...
I've said it multiple times on this board - Sarah Palin was the nail in the GOP coffin. Good Bye. If Ed Rollins, the biggest sycophant of the all says it is over, then the fat lady really has sung.

GObama!

2. Rollins is a pro and he's usually right.
I've never liked him, but I have always paid attention to him.

He's absolutely right, but there is little chance that McCain will do what he suggests.

3. Just like Goldwater
Now McCain has one last chance to be like his mentor, Barry Goldwater. Win AZ and a handful of other states while sitting at the bottom of a landslide.

7. What I got out of his commentary
Basically, the guy is saying McCain should just give it up, and reduce himself to supporting guys trying not to lose senate and house seats. Hilarious. I call that basically a cry thats says "PLEASE.....PLEASE DON'T LET US ALL GO DOWN"
.
.

19. Exactly what I was thinking as Ed was speaking
It's not just McCain's legacy. George W Bush is the reason for this possible landslide.

13. Love what he says about the crowd, "You don't give them a choice". McCain was loosing the rabid base
and by tossing out the red meat to appease them he's lost any chance with the Independents/undecideds.

There were a few times that it seemed Obama was placed it a similar situation around here but he asked the die-hard base to trust him as he stayed the course. It's been a smart campaign all around and I believe we owe a debt of gratitude to Howard Dean as well as the Obama campaign.

17. Maddow said the same thing
that it is awfully late in the game to be appealing solely to your "base". That can only be a sign of abject desperation.

16. West Virginia now a toss-up
An update on RealClearPolitics.com says West Virginia is now a toss-up state. But wait, there's more. The only poll data they have from October, from American Research Group, shows Obama ahead in WV by 8%. RCP averages in some polls from 9/24 and earlier, which puts it into the toss-up category. October's data alone would make it "leaning Obama." McCain is losing another state.

18. Heard a little something on NPR on my way home
They were asking if the Conservative era was over and who ever the talking heads were both said yes. One said it is the age of Liberalism and it is global. It will sweep the world. I hope they are right.... errrr left I guess :)

Conservatism hung itself with all the rope they could get their greedy hands on. They more than overplayed their hand. They self destructed gorging themselves in extreme ideology. I will not weep at the funeral, but will focus on the liberal future instead. The pendulum will need to swing pretty far left to balance things out. I cannot wait!!!!!

20. what about pigmedia?
oddly enough, it seems real power is represented by mass media, which is overwhelmingly for John mcwar hero and sexy sarah the reagan gal....up here in Canada, where liberalism just makes sense (the size of country, small population, Quesbec/bilingualism facts etc necessitate a large government historically, which emphasises common interests, and thus liberalism) the news media is almost solidly reactionary, though contemptuous to bush mcain etc (they're were always really leftwing libs, gettit)...a Obama victory would recharge the forces of reaction- already is, and all the repair work would be done while hannatti, limballs etal celebrate the wrong of putting a young man in an old man's job. The forces of reaction are too organised, to creepy, and no Obama victory will deter them imho...
all one needs to hear from rightwing talki heads is the crack of a baseball bat
