3. Carole King is so awesome. What a talented lady!
Great singer, great songwriter, great American!

In addition to the songs from Tapestry, I also love Jazzman and City Streets. It figures she's an Obama/Biden supporter!

5. Why is it the rw'ers have NO kind, gentle and compassionate peeps representing them??
Don't bother trying to explain. I know why. When you are led by greed, lies, hatred and morons....it's hard enough to find assholes to represent you.

11. No wait, Hulk, I want to take a stab at this if you don't mind...
There's a type of person out there who's not simply a jerk but a mindeffer, y'know? They like to push buttons. Tweak you to see how far you bend. They're into shock. They like to pretty much ransack the concept of niceness, courtesy, goodwill. They strive for the highest levels in rudeness and arrogance. They believe rules don't apply to them.

You know the type.

And these folks gravitate towards the Republican party, and why not, it's a perfect custom fit! This is a party that holds nothing but disdain for the unfortunates of society and worships the rich and powerful. To go on a tangent, comedy, traditionally satire, was pretty much about poking fun at the establishment and elites, to bring them down from their loftiness. Look at what passes for in the rw circles: pre-Limbaugh, it was about poking fun at the excesses (and even the occasional hypocrisies) of the privileged left; but then the big guy came around and changed the rules, it was about joking at the expense of the oppressed and downtrodden (incidentally, I believe that sort of thing led to some cranial extractions in France back in the day...).

So, it's truly the bully party, one that caters to the basest of moral indulgences while quoting scripture. Y'know, sometimes I believe the whole Christian thing is just another costume for their assholery, because you can't look me dead in the eye and tell me these people TRULY subscribe to the teachings, philosophy and comportment of Christ. I just ain't buyin' it, jack!

Anyway, there's my feeble but well-intentioned attempt at an explanation, for what it's worth.

6. This was so great. So positive. And respectful.
Can you imagine a McCain/Pain sing-a-long? From what I've witnessed lately, it would be Prussian Blue's Greatest Hits.

8. Man, that was great! The singing at the end had me in tears.
I remember the album Tapestry with such bittersweetness...

Plus they have really helped our party over the years. Their high profile helps get our message out more too. This is a good strategy finding celebs that can reach out to that age demographic.

10. Alright, Carole.
She's always been as principled as she is talented, and she's damned talented indeed.

If McCain can't persuade principled people like her, it's a very damning indictment of his campaign.

A great candidate would seek the esteem of our best hearts and minds.

12. I got to meet her at a friends house in '04
The picture of us is still on top of my microwave, don't ask why it's there because I have no idea.

She was very kind and generous with her time. An extremely bright woman.
