33. Thank You for this picture!
It topped off that awesome video! That was past great. It is interesting because we are in the moment and he is stepping back and really looking at this in context. This is historic and Obama is the best candidate we have ever had.

Also I have seen alot of this guy on this site, and besides what he says, to be perfectly shallow, he is totally HOT!

6. I just watched this twice. Because I feel the same way. And Cenk is underselling it.
Because Barack Obama isn't just a black man with a funny sounding name. He's an international figure. A father from Kenya, raised in Indonesia. A man who shares a middle name with many Muslims, and has grown up around them.

Obama-as-President transforms the very idea of what America stands for.

It says that we're not just Reagan's isolated, paranoid "city on a hill", but a country ready to befriend other countries instead of just bombing them.

Honestly, I can't let myself feel it too much yet. Only for a few minutes at a time. It's all meaningless until we get the votes counted and he wins. And even then, I won't feel safe until Inauguration Day. Then I'll finally let myself believe it. And what a glorious day that's gonna be!

12. I have come to adore that young man!
I don't really care what color Barack Obama is, but that we may just pull off getting this smart, thoughtful, urbane and caring person in the White House. Wow.

14. True But...(spoiler)
You can bet the farm the Refucknakants are going to make his life a living hell. And... our Democratic congress is a weak and scattered bunch. The pressures he will have to bear will be tremendous and of a scale equal to the magnitude of his historical achievement.

I hope I am wrong. I really, really hope I'm wrong.

20. In a frothing, wall-eyed rage will they sabotage this country
in ways that will beggar imagination.

They will not allow their 9/11-inspired dreams to be usurped by this.. boy.

I am very fearful.

24. I think that the time has come for people to vote in new Dem blood
Edited on Wed Oct-08-08 11:43 AM by SemperEadem
and get rid of the "weak and scattered bunch", as you well put it. That would be the shot in the arm to get this country going. Vote out the Blue Dog Dems; put 60 invigorated new Dems in the Senate; replace Pelosi in her district with someone who is not afraid to do her job and the will of the people. The time has come for the Democratic party on whole to play hard ball and get this country on the right track. As long as the old, spineless Dems are in the way, the road will be a long one to hoe.

ETA: don't get me wrong... there are quite a few Dems in the Senate and Congress who are on the right track and they have the right motivations--I'm not talking about replacing them. I'm talking about the mealy-mouthed, afraid of their own shadow types who check in with the puke party before figuring out what the people want.

25. Well Said and...
Representative malaise and tepid convictions have put us where we are today. There should, now more than ever, be an uprising of Liberal pride. You can't get much worse than what the Republicans have driven this nation to, save for a Somalia-like condition. They are abject failures and the proof, as if reality weren't enough, is their stealing of Liberal positions on energy and oversight.

The people will have to let their reps know that we will no longer stand for this crap.

16. "Are you sure you want to recommend this thread?"
There's a story about a commercial bus driver that had to change a flat tire during a scheduled bus trip. Hot, dirty, behind schedule, he was trying to make up just a bit of time by driving his bus at 80 miles per hour. An officer pulled him over and asked, "Why are you speeding at 80 miles per hour?" His answer, "The SOB won't go 90!"

The automatic question, "Are you sure you want to recommend this thread?" elicits from me a similar thought: "I'd like to have the SOB enshrined in every public office in the country."

I'm just about at the point of getting excited now; I have to give myself a little "Dutch uncle" talk occasionally, remembering how I practiced saying, "President Kerry". Excellent video!

27. TOTALLY.
Re-ignites the ideals of America. The inauguration of President Obama will do so much for this country in the eyes of the world.

Make inauguration day a national holiday, or the day after when we are tired and hung-over from celebrating.

28. Champaign and tears of relief if we win
The long nightmare might be about to end. The bullies took over for a while, forced their limited ideas on us, and have been shown not up to the job. It is time to stop trying to remake the world into a western, where everything is good vs evil. We have to learn, live, and grow.

34. Wow. This guy rules.
Seriously. That guy, on the show, pretty much sums it up for me. Love how he wrapped it up... I live in Texas, Central Texas, ASSHOLE REPUBLICAN TEXAS, so I've got all these republican kinda clients/acquaintances sending me feeble-at-best bullshit republican propaganda, and my only voice of reason (aside from Keith, Chris & Rachel) is gabbygarcia, for whom I am her humble understudy.

Going to have to keep an eye on their show... Awesome!

38. Obama
I am a 66 year old ex Navy, construction worker. I've had the heartache of seeing a daughter die at 39. I don't cry much, but once in a while such as when I view something like this, or think about what we can do on Nov. 4, I cry. I'm not ashamed of it, I just never thought it was possible. I give thanks to all who have gone before and to those still fighting now. Never give up.
