She makes zillions in oil kickbacks and gets to bill the people for her incidental expenses. People gush about how charming and great she is even though she knows jack all about anything. She has every reason to be perky.

And, the "seducing the camera" thing was a misfire. I watched this with 4 women, of widely different backgrounds, and all of them were dumbfounded by the wink. They thought it was supremely unprofessional and unpresidential.

...and the dude next to me went ballistic when she started with the wink. He shouted out, "Did she just 'wink'?" Funny.

I don't know that anyone "won" the debate, but I think the nation got a good look at what someone with experience and credentials would look like next to someone who thinks they are cute and can "wink their way out".

...is an old p.r. trick. You just "can't keep your eye off watching that piece of bang flicking in her eye". Ergo: You pay little attention to what b.s. is coming out of her mouth. Like I said, public relations distraction trick as old as they come.

connecting with the audience, it puts her on a intimate level. Very homey touch. Women see through this tactic, though and generally don't like it. If you recall, George Bush is famous for winking at certain people in the audience along with his ugly little smirk.
