3. It Was a Common Observation
that if you heard the debate on TV, Nixon won. If you saw the debate on TV, Kennedy one.

Having heard part of the debate on NPR radio several years ago, I had to agree. Nixon sounded much better than I expected, and actually better than Kennedy.

The visuals were different. Nixon's scowling, sweating, and five o'clock are shadow are legendary, although they don't show in this particular clip. I also Nixon's posture, which one leg bent, was odd and a little effeminate for someone running for president on a defense and anticommunist ticket.

Something like that appears to be happening with this debate. McCain had depressingly good delivery and good answers (if you buy into his kind of thinking), but IMO Obama looked much more comfortable, thoughtful, and in command.

4. Faaack! This is a phenomenal catch. I love to find these de-ja vu
moments. McCain really blew it. It is obvious that Obama, whether you agree with is politics or not, is not naive and what good did experience do McCain? He just turned into a grumpy old tool of the power elite. A lot like Bob Dole only more enmeshed.
