A tearful, apologetic Eddie Burke pleaded no contest Thursday to misdemeanour charges for grabbing at a waitress’s crotch, then offering to pay her $400 to keep her from reporting him to the police. Burke, owner of a downtown gas station and former Anchorage Assembly candidate, was fined $1,500 for assault and compounding a crime. Prosecutor Susan Wibker said Burke was out carousing that April night, going from strip joint to strip joint in a white limousine with friends. After midnight, Burke stopped by the Peanut Farm, a restaurant and bar on Old Seward Highway.

“He was intoxicated and he was sexed up,” Wibker said.

Burke approached a waitress from behind, pinned her against a cash register and stuffed his hands into the front pockets of her apron, groping her between the legs and laughing, Wibker said. Later, he assaulted a bartender, putting him in what Wibker described as a headlock.

This "conservative" talk show host is behaving like a brown shirt fascist by saying these horrible things about the women who oppose Sarah Palin. He said these things on the air to his fans and then proceeded to give out their phone numbers! He is not only intimidating the organizers, but he also will frighten anyone who had thought about attending that rally. The counter-rally he announced for the same place and same time is certainly meant to scare people away from the women's rally.

If the McCain/Palin campaign does not denounce this radio host and his strong arm tactics, they don't deserve to ever hear the end of it.

I see it a lot . It is a behaviour I saw sooo many times in 2000 and then in 2004. I saw it on the faces of the GOP pundits who were trying to keep pollsters from counting the chads in the 2000 election..large, angry, red faced men sweating profusely as they bellowed and shouted..I saw it in 2001 when I went to DC to protest the inauguration, I was staying at the same hotel as many republicans, and I watched them in the lobby , wearing large cowboy hats and huge belt buckles, swilling drinks and speaking loudly and thumping their chests. Their wives were just as loud. It made me think of Nazis, yes, from the newsreels I have seen when the brownshirts intimidate people on the streets, bellowing and yelling profanities, bullies.
I saw it on the faces of people at the RNC convention in 2004 when they made fun of Kerry's war medals.
Bullying and intimidation are , it seems to me, highly valued by the RW, and I try to wrap my mind around why they need to do it. What inner fears make them so? My brother has that tendency, so I say to myself, why is he like that?
My dad used to say that people who bully are afraid. They are terrified, in fact, and are filled with self loathing.
People like Rove are bullies. I read somewhere that his mother committed suicide . his real father left him. he has a lot of unresolved issues. anger and fear. self loathing.
