33. ISN'T THAT THE TRUTH!
That is probably the best comparison of how ridiculous this is - I hope everyone is quoting him about this and that line picks up around the whole world.
It is a bad TERRIFYING disney movie and this idiot VP candidate might actually have the authority one day to start a nuclear holocaust and she'll be safe flying on Air Force One to Alaska, waiting for all her crazy AOG friends to come on over. 'Make a way, Make a way, Lord" Ugh. It's disgustingly dangerous. I'd laugh but it isnt funny.

This is when pride yields only sorrow. The Republicans better wake up before it is too late, swallow their racism and the PUMAs better too and DO THE RIGHT THING, not the Reich thing, for God's sake.

Bad Disney Movie. Hoot!

It is great to be posting on DU. Most other places where I post get me put quickly into outcast status. I have had a few conversations recently where it was me against the world. One interesting thing that I learned is that many of my colleagues do not see things the same way that I do. This discussion board is really amazing. There are so many people here with tremendous insight and very sharp minds and I am very happy to be a part of it.

Would also like to hear his pals George Clooney and Brad Pitt speak out against McSame / Palin. They, too, are eloquent speakers.
What's also scary is the large number of people who think that Palin would make a good President.

43. It boggles the mind
I was talking to a former democrat, now PUMA, this morning. Im just amazed at how much of this has to do with pride and prejudice. Anyone who is a PUMA now, after Hillary gave her support to Obama, is controlled by those two evils. Pride and Prejudice. Period.

She doesnt care that Sarah Palin and her husband are with the Alaskan AIP. How can that not matter? Her defense was that they even have separatist movements in other states. Yeah but you dont see members of those political parties becoming President or VP or First Dude of this country. It's traitorous.

Later we were talking about common ground, our disgust over the last eight years. She mentioned how it was stupid for Bush to give money back to everyone, such a small amount didnt really help anyone and makes us weaker when it should be used to pay for other things like roads etc etc etc etc. I pointed out to her that Palin did such a thing in Alaska. She gave her people almost 2 thousand dollars each from a surplus and then borrowed money for her roads. I also told her that Alaska has been given so much earmarked money from our government it's basically a welfare state. At that, the PUMA frowned and looked down at her hands.

I also told her that when Palin was in Wasillia she made rape victims pay for their own rape kits which cost anywhere from $300-$1000 depending on tests. Even after her police chief didn't agree she still made victims pay for that. It's just monstrous. Horrible. Unfeeling. I'd wager it improved her numbers by lowering the amount of reported rapes because the victims couldn't afford to pay for the test! Even the law enforcement from other towns said they covered that expense and to refuse to pay for a victim's rape test was just unbelievably cruel. Then I said to her "How can you be for someone who is just so opposite of Hillary? How can you vote for someone who will probably be president and who is against her own gender, and against basic protection of victims rights?"

Finally her answer came out, after all of that. She said it didn't matter to her. She was voting for McCain because she would never vote for Obama. She wants us to suffer. She wants us to be defeated because of how she felt HIllary people were treated, ignored and defeated during the campaign. Then she finally said she couldn't vote for someone who 'hates white people'. What a croc. She blamed her own racism on Obama. Talk about projection.

Well there it was. The real answer: Pride and Prejudice. The killers of men's souls. Very sad indeed.

I saw Matt Damon's video on Joe in the Morning today. Of course they didn't play all of it and Mika just shook head head and mumbled a sad reply. Bless her father though. He came on and said Obama is the best choice and that McSame's foreign policy views are old....I think he meant reactionary type old! HA!

11. Jason Bourne speaks!
In a minute and a half, he nailed exactly (imho) what people should be talking about. Instead of talking about reality, people seem to be focused on the speech that Phalin keeps repeating over and over and over and over that is filled with half truths, inaccuracies, and bold faced lies. Maybe people will listen instead of chalking this one up to "liberal bias" from the media or hollywood or celebs...

We cant afford another quack in the white house.
Question the polls and the polling techniques, and don't buy into the spin.
Educate and rally your family, friends, coworkers, and neighbors to vote for the change we can believe in.

67. Boy do I question the polls.
Edited on Wed Sep-10-08 06:00 PM by truedelphi
The inner circle of Repugs realize their mistake in 2004 was to allow the polls to exist. Free and unfettered. An actual look into the working of the voters.

Thus spawning an entire movement of people who have been insisting ever since on Election Reform...

After all, statistically it was nigh near impossible that Kerry was leading Bush at like 10:30 Pm election eve, and tht the polls in place reflected that and then WHAM! Bush defeated Kerry just four hours later.

The repugs will not let that much of reality hang out this time arouind.

And since our news reporters, Katie Couric and Charlie Gibson, et al, are all lite weights, there is no questioning of the polls.

I have not even heard that the Pollsters now call non-land lines - ie the younger people that only have cellphones, even in their homes and at their offices. If the cell phone users are STILL NOT being called, all polls to date are invalid.

81. Well...
I'm no Larry King fan, but his interview with Michelle Bachman/James Carville/Stephanie miller was pretty cool... He asked her : "Do you think that Palin was the best choice for VP" and Bachman responded "This was McCain's choice" and King put her on the spot and asked again "But do you think that Palin was the BEST choice" and Bachman again wouldn't say it was the best choice. Shining moment for King.

15. That is the American fantasy
that a "down-home" hockey mom with no prior experience, or as little as possible, will rise to the highest office in the land and use her folksy wisdom to reshape and redirect every aspect of our politics, especially foreign policy. And by "American" I mean the 20% or so who still believe Dubya Bush saved us from Saddam Hussein conspiring with the terr'ists and WMD that he smuggled up his ass, and the only reason we haven't found them is that we haven't tortured enough towelheads and camel-jockeys yet. With the same kind of arrogance they project on East Coast (or West Coast) liberal "elites," they want -- nay, they feel entitled -- to have our whole society remade in the image of themselves, their families, their friends, and their lifestyles. Bush was so successful because he convinced them with his fake cowboy antics and brush clearing that he was doing exactly that, rather than gambling away the future of our economy, abusing the goodwill of the world toward us, and enriching his own friends at everyone else's expense.

The Republicans are excited about Sarah Palin for the exact reason that she will "energize the base," because the last election convinced them that more than anything else they need to get out the vote of uninformed, regressive, myopic thugs. And for all I know they could be right.

...as perfect as Damon's statements.

The real problem is Repugs think this IS a movie, and all will turn out well, and that US folksy charm is gonna sell in the Sudan or Pakistan. And when your son dies after having his legs blown off, he goes to some happy place and gets his legs back! Praise the Fathers!

It's scary as hell. I can't believe it's really happening. I'm with ya, Matt!

...I wish someone with a real voice would talk about the timing of Gov Palin approving the 26-40 billion dollar Alaskan gas pipeline.

I was a teenager when talk of this pipeline first came about, for over thirty years this pipeline was held up because of it's cost and for environmental reasons. ...BUT on the Wednesday before the neo-cons surprise even their own party with their pick of Alaskans Gov Sarah Palin as McCain's running mate, she OKed the pipeline.

I think it's safe to say that Big Oil found a new best friend.

75. Not "debunked"
"...According to coverage in the local newspaper, the Frontiersman, Palin asked the librarian at a meeting "if she would object to censorship even if people were circling the library in protest about a book."

The report quotes the librarian as responding, "I told her clearly I will fight anyone who tries to indicate what books can go on the library shelves."

The same week that Palin raised the issue she fired Baker (then using her married name Emmons) as librarian, claiming she was not "loyal" to the new administration and had supported Palin's opponent in the election. She said the dismissal was not connected to questions of censorship, and that she had dismissed all city department heads and told them they could re-apply for their jobs.

After a public outcry, Palin rescinded the dismissal of the librarian."

69. A simple question at the debate is all it would take...
either A: Do you believe that man and dinosuars roamed the earth together? or
B: Do you believe the earth is closer to 6000 years old or 15 billion years old?

Either one would expose her as the nut-job she is. Please tell me we're not so backwards as a country that answering yes or 6000 would get her the most votes. :scared:

106. Just leaves me shaking my head...
you see these stories about where we rank in science and math education and it's sickening. But what do we do, we keep putting creationist in high ranking public offices, so it really comes as no surprise. But it still makes me sad when I think of how not very long ago, we were leaders in the sciences. What a sorry sign of where this country is heading. :grr:

46. I agree with Matt Damon
What I don't understand is why is Palin introducing John
Mccain when it should be the other way around. It just shows
that she doesn't know the issues and the GOP are afraid that
if people really know what her real issues are she would not
fair so well among women voters. It is time the media do
their "JOB".

The problem is the millions of other people in this country who believe the same thing.

I might stay around, its been an interesting but not surprising experiment.

Instead of people responding intelligently with arguements such as Obama has better judgement, is more intelligent, is well traveled, and understands and has more experience with global and national issues than a person (Palin) who has spent their entire life sequestered in a very remote section of the country, people here respond with name calling and ridicule.

Palin isn't as scary as knowing that some of these people are going to vote.

85. Florida must have the BEST meth around.
It would probably give Wasilla a run for it's money.

Sarah FAILIN' could never compete with a resume such as this:

OBAMA’S SENATORIAL ACCOMPLISHMENTS AND BILLS SPONSORED:
COMMITTEE ASSIGNMENTS:
Obama holds assignments on the Senate Committees for Foreign Relations; Health, Education, Labor and Pensions; Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs; and Veterans' Affairs, and he is a member of the Congressional Black Caucus.

-------------------------

As a member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, Obama made official trips to Eastern Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. In August 2005, he traveled to Russia, Ukraine, and Azerbaijan. The trip focused on strategies to control the world's supply of conventional weapons, biological weapons, and weapons of mass destruction as a first defense against potential terrorist attacks.

Following meetings with U.S. military in Kuwait and Iraq in January 2006, Obama visited Jordan, Israel, and the Palestinian territories.

He left for his third official trip in August 2006, traveling to South Africa, Kenya, Djibouti, Ethiopia and Chad. In a nationally televised speech at the University of Nairobi, he spoke forcefully on the influence of ethnic rivalries and corruption in Kenya.

Obama worked with Russ Feingold (D–WI) to eliminate gifts of travel on corporate jets by lobbyists to members of Congress and require disclosure of bundled campaign contributions under the "Honest Leadership and Open Government Act", which was signed into law in September 2007.

He joined Chuck Schumer (D-NY) in sponsoring S. 453, a bill to criminalize deceptive practices in federal elections, including fraudulent flyers and automated phone calls, as witnessed in the 2006 midterm elections.

Obama also introduced the "Iraq War De-Escalation Act", a bill to cap troop levels in Iraq, begin phased redeployment, and remove all combat brigades from Iraq before April 2008.<68>

Later in 2007, Obama sponsored with Kit Bond (R-MO) an amendment to the 2008 Defense Authorization Act adding safeguards for personality disorder military discharges, and calling for a review by the Government Accountability Office following reports that the procedure had been used inappropriately to reduce government costs.

joined Chuck Hagel (R-NE) in introducing legislation to reduce risks of nuclear terrorism. A provision from the Obama-Hagel bill was passed by Congress in December 2007 as an amendment to the State-Foreign Operations appropriations bill.

Obama also sponsored a Senate amendment to the State Children's Health Insurance Program (SCHIP) to provide one year of job protection for family members caring for soldiers with combat-related injuries. After passing both houses of Congress with bipartisan majorities, SCHIP was vetoed by President Bush in early October 2007, a move Obama said "shows a callousness of priorities that is offensive to the ideals we hold as Americans."

This legislation was introduced in December. Smith and Congressman Spencer Bachus (R-AL) sponsored the House version of the bill (H.R. 1302), which passed the House last September.

COMMUNITY ORGANIZER - 1985 - 1988

In 1985, freshly graduated from Columbia University and working for a New York business consultant, Barack Obama decided to become a community organizer. Though he liked the idea, he didn't understand what the job involved, and his inquiries turned up few opportunities.

Then he got a call from Jerry Kellman, an organizer working on Chicago's far South Side for a community group based in the churches of the region, an expanse of white, black and Latino blue-collar neighborhoods that were reeling from the steel-mill closings. Kellman was looking for an organizer for the new Developing Communities Project (DCP), which would focus on black city neighborhoods.

Obama, only 24, struck board members as "awesome" and "extremely impressive," and they quickly hired him, at $13,000 a year, plus $2,000 for a car--a beat-up blue Honda Civic, which Obama drove for the next three years organizing more than twenty congregations to change their neighborhoods. He organized steel workers that that lost their jobs after the steel plants closed, running job training, and education services, he also ran a group called project vote where they registered 150,000 new voters.

CIVIL RIGHTS ATTORNEY - 1991 - 1996

Attorney Judson Miner called Harvard to offer a job to a graduating student named Barack Obama and didn't expect to be showered with gratitude. Still, he wasn't expecting the reception he got. "You can leave your name and take a number," the woman who answered the phone at the Harvard Law Review said breezily. "You're No. 647"
As the first black president of the Harvard Law Review, Obama had his pick of top law firms. He chose Miner's Chicago civil rights firm, where he represented community organizers, discrimination victims and black voters trying to force a redrawing of city ward boundaries.

"It's a real do-good firm," says Fay Clayton, lead counsel for the National Organization for Women in a landmark lawsuit aimed at stopping abortion clinic violence. "Barack and that firm were a perfect fit. He wasn't going to make as much money there as he would at a LaSalle Street firm or in New York, but money was never Barack's first priority anyway."

The firm offered another advantage to Obama. It was close to the political action.

Miner was Chicago's corporation counsel under Harold Washington, the city's first black mayor, in the 1980s when Washington was battling for control of the City Council against remnants of the once-mighty Machine.

Miner introduced Obama to a number of people in politics. Obama already knew many others, having worked as an organizer in the black community before he entered law school.

Obama was part of a team of attorneys who represented the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now (ACORN) in a lawsuit against the state of Illinois in 1995 for failing to implement a federal law designed to make it easier for the poor and others to register as voters.

A federal court ordered the state to implement the law.

Obama also wrote a major portion of an appeals brief on behalf of a whistleblower who exposed waste and corruption in a research project involving Cook County Hospital and the Hektoen Institute for Medical Research and alleged that she was fired in retaliation.

The case was settled out of court. The county agreed to pay the federal government $5 million, part of which went to the whistleblower, Dr. Janet Chandler. Hektoen agreed to pay $500,000 to the government plus $170,000 to Chandler for wrongful termination.

And Obama was part of a team of lawyers representing black voters and aldermen that forced Chicago to redraw ward boundaries that the City Council drew up after the 1990 census. They said the boundaries were discriminatory.

After an appeals court ruled the map violated the federal Voting Rights Act, attorneys for both sides drew up a new set of ward boundaries.

Public records at the Illinois Attorney Registration and Disciplinary Commission -- which handles ethical questions concerning the state's lawyers -- indicate there were no complaints against attorney Obama.

Obama's legal work fell off sharply in 1997 after his election to the Illinois Senate.

"On his second day down in Springfield he called me and said, 'Don't pay me -- this is a full-time job,'" Miner recalls.

Obama agreed to work for the firm in summer when the legislature was out of session. His law license became inactive in 2002 as politics took over.

Illinois State Senator - 1996 - 2004

Obama proposed requiring that interrogations and confessions be videotaped.

This seemed likely to stop the beatings, but the bill itself aroused immediate opposition. There were Republicans who were automatically tough on crime and Democrats who feared being thought soft on crime. There were death penalty abolitionists, some of whom worried that Obama's bill, by preventing the execution of innocents, would deprive them of their best argument. Vigorous opposition came from the police, too many of whom had become accustomed to using muscle to "solve" crimes. And the incoming governor, Rod Blagojevich, announced that he was against it.

Obama had his work cut out for him.

He responded with an all-out campaign of cajolery. It had not been easy for a Harvard man to become a regular guy to his colleagues. Obama had managed to do so by playing basketball and poker with them and, most of all, by listening to their concerns. Even Republicans came to respect him. One Republican state senator, Kirk Dillard, has said that "Barack had a way both intellectually and in demeanor that defused skeptics."

The police proved to be Obama's toughest opponent. Legislators tend to quail when cops say things like, "This means we won't be able to protect your children." The police tried to limit the videotaping to confessions, but Obama, knowing that the beatings were most likely to occur during questioning, fought -- successfully -- to keep interrogations included in the required videotaping.

By showing officers that he shared many of their concerns, even going so far as to help pass other legislation they wanted, he was able to quiet the fears of many.

Obama proved persuasive enough that the bill passed both houses of the legislature, the Senate by an incredible 35 to 0. Then he talked Blagojevich into signing the bill, making Illinois the first state to require such videotaping.

He also passed a bill to get 100,000 people healthcare that didn't have it.

Obama didn't stop there. He played a major role in passing many other bills, including the state's first earned-income tax credit to help the working poor and the first ethics and campaign finance law in 25 years (a law a Post story said made Illinois "one of the best in the nation on campaign finance disclosure"). Obama's commitment to ethics continued in the U.S. Senate, where he co-authored the new lobbying reform law that, among its hard-to-sell provisions, requires lawmakers to disclose the names of lobbyists who "bundle" contributions for them.

United States Senator - 2005 - Present

In the U.S. Senate, he has focused on tackling the challenges of a globalized, 21st century world with fresh thinking and a politics that no longer settles for the lowest common denominator. His first law was passed with Republican Tom Coburn, a measure to rebuild trust in government by allowing every American to go online and see how and where every dime of their tax dollars is spent. He has also been the lead voice in championing ethics reform that would root out Jack Abramoff-style corruption in Congress.

As a member of the Veterans' Affairs Committee, Senator Obama has fought to help Illinois veterans get the disability pay they were promised, while working to prepare the VA for the return of the thousands of veterans who will need care after Iraq and Afghanistan. Recognizing the terrorist threat posed by weapons of mass destruction, he traveled to Russia with Republican Dick Lugar to begin a new generation of non-proliferation efforts designed to find and secure deadly weapons around the world. And knowing the threat we face to our economy and our security from America's addiction to oil, he's working to bring auto companies, unions, farmers, businesses and politicians of both parties together to promote the greater use of alternative fuels and higher fuel standards in our cars.

90. It's not anyone's job to school you
yet people here bring you resources and you say "Thems too many wurdz."
Like talking to a wall and people r tired so It's more fun to poke fun til you go bye bye.
There are only three possible reasons you would be voting for McCain at this point.
1) you're a racist (All PUMAs included in this category)
2) you're an unrepentant religious right republican
3) both of the above.

96. Bring me good arguements not laziness

I didn't say who I am voting for, and you don't know who I am or who I am voting for. Maybe I'm not voting at all. Maybe I'm playing devils advocate.

Copying from wikipedia is not bringing me resources, its just laziness.

Go to school. Learn to spell.

100. Oh my
You might want to take your own advice about learning how to spell, dear.

It's "arguments"...NOT "arguements"

And it's devil's advocate

And Wikipedia is usually capitalized

109. partially correct

well, the British English spelling is "arguement", the American spelling is "argument".

You are correct on "Devil's Advocate", but did you miss the capitalisation too? (before you get upset, "capitalization" is the British and American way, "capitalisation" is the French way, dear).

I think good ol wikipedia and I are on good enough terms to be casual.

116. Well, obviously she is not doing a good job as a mother.
Kid falls pregnant at 16.
Son has to go to either the army or jail.

She is not putting her kids first - unlike Michelle - but her ambition.

With a special needs child, a daughter dealing with pregnancy, she should be nowhere near the White House.

Indebt a town of 8,000 to the tune of 22 million? Supports creationism (see, on this one, you ALL lose, good DAY sir)? Request a fuckton of pork for the 47th most populous state? Bridge to Nowhere? I can do this all day long, as she's "the gift that keeps on giving".

How about McClown?

Votes 90% of the time on country damaging issues Bewsh supports, one of the most ardent supporters of Feldstien's Free Trade school of econ, war monger and corporate puppet? This is the kind of person working Americans think is on their side???

Opinion isn't refutation. Facts aren't boilerplate. You wanted bills and substance, and that's what I gave you. The onus isn't on me, guy. Put up or shut up - why is the McClown and Palin circus more qualified? McCain's got one foot in the grave and the other firmly in the corporate swinepit. And then who will you have with the Nuclear Codes? A fundamentalpatient toady with weird beliefs and absolutely NO experience to her name. Gee, THAT'S a smart choice.

107. Wasilla in debt?
Wasilla in debt for $22 million....ooo, a good point there. I couldn't find the Wasilla budget for the years Palin was Mayor so I can't verify your numbers. The town certainly has not been in debt for the past 5 years. There are claims from Republicans that she balanced the budget - but I can't verify that either. So where did you get those numbers? Was the town in debt the first year Palin was mayor or the last?

I can assume she supports Creationism since that is a fundamental belief of the Assembly of God Church, but that doesn't mean she is going to ram it down our throats. When asked about teaching Creationism in school, she is quoted as saying "teach both" Creationism and Evolution. There are lots of comments in articles and blogs were the author thinks she wants Creationism taught in schools, but I can't find anything that says Palin has said she wants to force schools to teach Creationism. She didn't push that agenda as Mayor or Governor.

Mccain actually voted with Bush 95% of the time. Check
http://www.cq.com/find.do?dataSource=member&memcodes=26#VOTING%20STUDIES

You will also find that Obama voted with Bush 40% of the time. Obama voted (when he did vote) the Democratic party line 97% of the time. Thats not much change.

Your facts are questionable - you can't even get it right when it supports your arguement.

I might put more weight on your numbers except all the name calling makes a person question your integrity :)

129. not that one again.
"You will also find that Obama voted with Bush 40% of the time. Obama voted (when he did vote) the Democratic party line 97% of the time. Thats not much change."

That's not much change? Hmmm. Funny. The change Obama is talking about is change from the BushCo policy/government. Seems to me voting 97% of the time with the Democrats, the opposition to the BushCo policy/government, is exactly that. Change in every respect from what the current administration/Republicans have done. Change from what this country has now.

I find it funny when that one is spun. as if. It's obvious McCain has to prove his change of policies where Obama simply does not need to. McCain has to try and convince voters that he is the maverick, he is different from BUSH - but obviously his voting 95% of the time with Bush really doesnt prove that point, now does it? The burden of PROOF of change falls upon old McCain's shoulders. Obama is change just by being Democrat. Period. If McCain cant prove he is change then he is just another unimaginative conservative politician trying to steal the sound bites of a progressive.

135. Awesome! Thanks for compiling that.
It's so pathetic to hear republicans spout the "no experience" B.S. They either 1) know it's not true and are just trying to be critical of Obama; or 2) are unwilling to learn from anything other than their hate-fest radio stations and news channels they adore.

All these talking heads and these republican followers are really an embarrassment to the US. The fact that they swallowed Palin whole just shows how little they care for substance and integrity and only care about the show that's put on for them. As long as they hear their code words ("cut taxes", "conservative values", "pro life", "liberal media", "America first", "terror", etc...) , they could care less about the reality of the person or the consequences. They've been sucking up to criminals for the past eight years and still come back for more.

What a pathetic joke they are to be speaking about "American values". Their values don't go beyond how far they can reach with their greedy little hands to get something they want.

143. I also find the "experience" canard pretty ironic coming from BEWSH supporters.
a) By their definition, Bewsh has more executive experience than anyone. Hmmmmm, how's that working out for this country (85% of peasant-denial Republicans will of course lie and say they'll be millionaires any year now thanks to "their returns" :eyes: as if they know something traders who aren't making money don't)?

b) Before stealing the presidency, what noteworthy thing did Bewsh ever do besides fall out of the right womb? He failed at pretty much every business endeavor he had handed to him, he rode the back of Karl Rove's dirty tricks to attain governorship (that, and he fell out of the right womb) and plunged Texas just about dead last in every measurable category. There was never any evidence that he knew how to govern, or do pretty much anything else for that matter, except facilitate connections and network for Poppy's rich buddies in the insurance, energy and various other corporate industries.

88. Boo hoo.
I love it when people play the "Community organizer? Who cares?" card. They generally leave out any details regarding what actually transpired.

Obama began working as a community organizer when he was 24 years old, before he attended Harvard Law (and became the first African-American president of the Harvard Law Review). He was director of the Developing Communities Project (DCP) for 3 years (1985 - 1988), an organization which helped improve conditions for poor black families in Chicago. Under his leadership, the organizations annual budget increased from $70,000 to $400,000 - all money that went towards helping families.

By contrast, when Palin was 24 years old, she was a sports reporter for TV station in Anchorage. Now, I've never been a reporter, and I'm not going to try and convince anyone it's an easy job. I know that getting your facts straight in something you write takes some time and effort (I spent about 10 minutes or so researching this very response). But, if you're trying to become a part of our country's executive branch, what is a better qualification to have on your resume: director of a $400,000/year organization in the nation's 3rd largest city, or a sports reporter for the nation's 65th largest city?

And as for the "She has had a harder life than Obama" comment, who the hell do you think you are? Do you know these people? What qualifies you to make such a statement? Was it when she was winning beauty pageants and "Miss Congeniality" awards that she was having such a hard life? Yeah, my heart goes out to her. Right.

108. I'm not convinced.
I don't know, man, but that argument sounds pretty thin to me. You're implying that Seanator Obama has had it easy because he could afford to get into nice schools and has been financially successful. The same could be said for hundreds of other politicians, especially our current president.

I, for example, was fortunate enough to have parents who could help me pay for school. But I still had to work 2 jobs most of the way through college. I wouldn't call my life easy. I certainly can't speak for 2 people I've never met. I'm sure that attending Harvard Law wasn't easy, and I'm sure that the 5 colleges Governor Palin went to weren't easy either. You have to give credit where credit is due.

You and I cannot know which candidate's life is somehow "easier". We haven't experienced all of the same events and emotions that they have. And, even if you're right and Palin's life has been much harder, that still doesn't make her more qualified to lead our country.

Doesn't mean I'm fit to be president. I know a homeless Vietnam vet who lives out in the dirt and he has a college degree too. He lives a hard life, has a degree and served in the military. Guess that makes him more experienced. Vote for him!

Tell you what, you let me know what Palin knows about foreign policy, about Iraq, can she tell define what "winning" is? Can she tell us about the Kashmir problem or discuss the Arabic-Israeli conflict? Does she know the difference between the Badr Brigades and the Sadrists and just what their affiliations are?

Because Barack Obama and Joe Biden can tell you this stuff. John McCain can't and I know damn well Sarah Palin would probably just tell us she said "Thanks but no thanks" to the Bridge to Nowhere. That's about the extent of her policy knowledge and judgment, a line written by a Bush speechwriter.

The bald-faced lies and blatant hypocrisy just boggle the mind, don't they?

They say whatever made-up crap they want, knowing full well it's false or distorted, and never even blush or bat an eyelash.

The best adjective I can think of for that kind of shamelessness is "sociopathic." It's apparently a prerequisite for being a "real" Republican these days.
