Barack Obama slams the McCain camp for creating lies and distractions from the real issues, stating that, "The American people deserve a serious debate."

The McCain camp took a quote by Obama out of context for a smear ad.

Obama had used the saying, "You can put lipstick on a pig, but it's still a pig," in reference to John McCain's plans.

The McCain camp distorted use of the phrase and accused Obama of personally attacking Sarah Palin.

"Enough of the phoney lies and faux outrage," Obama said

1. Fantastic response by Obama,
Clear, factual, forceful--and yet catchy enough to make some news of its own.

3. Obama is above the frey
I'm glad this is the strategy he is using.
He keeps this up, and McSame will implode.

Obama has learned from Kerry to respond right away!! He will wipe the floor with McCain in the debate. He has sharpened his message to slice any distraction away... GREAT job on this response!!!

12. Exactly

Obama doesn't hesitate to lead the debate right back to what matters. (Right after he slams them down on their smear tactics). ;)

9. Great response Barack, however, too bad the mouthbreathers wont hear it ...
...because you have to put it into 30 second sound bite with a snarky comment for the hilljacks that live in Ohio (etc) to look up from their barstools and pay attention. That is why the Republic Party (if they can say "Democrat Party") is soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo masterful at appealing to the mouthbreather voters, because they make it S-I-M-P-L-E and S-Y-M-B-O-L-I-C so that it makes the decision process easy. See also: Reagan= cowboy, Bush=cowboy, Gore=robot, 'nvented internets, Kerry=French with crazy 'frner wife, Democrats=hates Jesus and cowards, Rethugs=loves Jesus and are patriots. Tell me this isn't the case.

14. The feigned indignation
is so tiresome. If we'd shown one once of that, Cheneybush, might be impeached and in disgrace. Republican's just do it better than we do. Ohhh, the outrage, barracuda/pitbull=good, old saying about trying to pretty up a tarnished policy=Baaaad. Obama, didn't go around hand-ringing and demanding an apology over the, *'uppity'*, statement last week, now did he? We missed our damn chance.

15. Truly is tiresome
It's a big smokescreen to hide McCain's real record on women's issues---the fact that he OPPOSES equal pay for equal work, opposed requiring insurance companies to cover birthcontrol, opposes women's right to choose, tells rape jokes and offered up his own wife for a topless beauty contest.

McCain doesn't want people to take a real look at where he stands on women's rights. He's rather play the phoney sexism card on a statement Obama made that was taken out of context.

Despicable.
