3. great article on DailyKos about McCain using phrase about Hillary's healthcare
http://www.dailykos.com/story/2008/9/9/194017/6489/219/592702

McCain criticized Democratic contenders for offering what he called costly universal health-care proposals that require too much government regulation. While he said he had not studied Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton's plan, he said it was "eerily reminiscent" of the failed plan she offered as first lady in the 1990s.

"I think they put some lipstick on a pig, but it's still a pig," he said of her proposal.

Funny thing is, it's a well-worn phrase, including the title of a book by Torie Clarke , former Pentagon Spokesperson and Chief Spokesperson for the Pentagon on Bush's Iraq war. Hmmmm, so if they want to go after the people who utter it, they are going to find themselves in deep doo doo. Guess that Pentagon Spokesperson is attacking her fellow woman? Puuhhhllease.

and the famous time the head of the Log Cabin Republicans said of the RNC in 2004... "You can't craft a vicious, mean-spirited platform, then try to put lipstick on the pig by putting Rudy Giuliani and Arnold Schwarzenegger on in prime time." To which Giuliani cleverly responded on Meet the Press.... Which am I, the pig or the lipstick?

I recall it being a favorite phrase by Lindsey Graham if someone wants to pull a clip up from Meet the Press.

9. danger...
There's a potential danger here of the republicans using this comment to their advantage.

If Obama apologizes, he will be admitting that he was somehow "sexist" and it will be devastating. The only right thing here is to stick to his comment and change the subject, I think..

13. Right wingers got played for fools
They lookm like idiots screaming sexism on this, especially since McCain himself used the same exact expression about Hillarys' health care plan. Obama baited the idiots into an overreaction, and they kindly and predictably took the bait. They got played like a fiddle by Obama, which is why they're now crying like little babies.

Because I did not hear Obama mention Caribou Barbie once in that video clip. So whats up with all those nasty comments on the youtube page. The rightwingnuts are posting so fast on it right now that anything I post is only on the front page for a minute tops. Ann Richards coined that lipstick pig phrase and McCain used it too. But perception is everything in this game which is why the McCain camp is insisting Obama apologize. I dont know how Obama should handle this but he has nothing to apologize about, but again perception is everything so he cant just do nothing.... hate to say it but the Mclame camp has really backed us into a corner here. He is damed if he does damed if he doesn't and at the same time the Mcsame camp just put out the nastiest ad so far this whole election season. The gloves are off and we have to hit back hard and fast! I heard that Obama just let loose the dogs of war today, he is letting the 527's off the leash. This is War!!!!
