This is one of the more bizarre scenes from this MUST SEE movie.

1. No more, Lord. No more! No more!
That's the 21st-century version of the documovie Freaks, if ever there was one.

Video-taped child abuse...why those fuckers aren't in prison, I don't know, especially that closeted mega-lesbian Becky.

We saw it last week, and I made copies for my colleagues...and everyone was similarly disgusted--yes, even the Republicans among us.

(Excellent documentary, though, and I second your "must-see" recommendation.)

3. Yes definitely child abuse
That was my first reaction as well. Especially when they sent those kids out into the streets to tell strangers about Jesus.

And my favorite line was when the kid tells his mom "Now I understand why Galileo gave up Science for Jesus!"

:wtf:

6. I don't see her as a closeted Lesbian.
To me, she looks like a classic bully. Bullies can be female, too.

I felt so terrible for those kids. That little girl Rachael is articulate, pretty and smart. What a horrid life for a child of her intelligence. That boy Levi, with the redneck haircut, is so brainwashed now that there is almost no hope for salvaging him.

I felt especially bad for the little blond boy who cried often during church service/brainwashing sessions. Did you see the tiny girl hand him a box of Kleenex?

Monsters.

Yes, we do have a right to teach our children our own beliefs. But this borders on child abuse. And they are teaching these children to rise up against the rest of us. They want to burden these children with changing society to conform to their beliefs, while stuffing their beliefs down our throats.

Monsters.

8. Nah when puberty kicks in Levi is gonna forget this shit
There were a lot of those little jeebus twerps around here when my kids were growing up and as soon as their little groins began to tingle they sort of forgot all about savin souls. Couple of them are now in jail. My son arrested a couple of the jeebus chicks when he was a cop.

9. Ha - that reminds me of two things
First: The kids remind me of a friend of mine that I met in college - a ravishing Mexican-American beauty with no fear or self-conciousness when it came to acting, speaking to the public, or just having goofy fun in the midst of strangers. She entertained some of our mutual friends and me with an incredible mime act. Turns out that when she was younger, her mother was an evangelical Christian and made them go out every weekend to accost... I mean preach to... the unwashed masses, and doing mime and other skits were part of how they got a crowd.

Two: The owner of one of the two magic/costume stores in town is pretty conservative - he and I have gotten into arguments before - unfortunately for him he believes every right-wing-easily-shot-down email he gets so he gets a little pissed with me. He's a good guy though. One day I went to his store, and he had several cardboard cut-outs in the windows. I entered, saw him behind the counter and said, "Hey, I really like your political statement in your window." He alternated between giving me a confused stare while I looked at the magic videos to looking at the windows. Finally, he got it and went to move the President Bush cut-out away from the Three Stooges cut-outs he had placed together while scowling at me. :)

10. The cult of personality
Edited on Fri Mar-02-07 12:48 AM by rpannier
too bad they picked such a loser to worship.

"He's surrounded himself with spiritual people."
Yeah, right.

Evil spirits.

on edit:
I believe the word everyone is looking for here is...Idolatry.

A violation of one of the ten commandments.

11. Um, the Bible forbids idolatry
But then Fundies don't have much use for the Bible except as a weapon.
