MnIndy Video: Anonymous riot cops snatch protesters near Palin bus, GOP delegate cries foul

As protesters targeted vice presidential nominee Gov. Sarah Palin as her tour bus arrived at the Minneapolis Hilton, three street medics assisting protesters were snatched by unmarked security in riot gear who refused to identify who they were. They had no badges or other identification, just beige uniforms with black riot gear.

Protesters demanded that the authorities identify themselves but they refused. The three medics were released after 15 minutes. Said one unnamed medic, “We just tried to diffuse the situation. We told them that not all protesters that look like us are involved in the same things. It was profiling.”

A GOP delegate gave the Minnesota Independent his thoughts on the anti-war protesters and on the police state of the Twin Cities. His answer might surprise: he’s a Ron Paul delegate.

1. our Democratic Congress allowed this fyi.
Democrats have stood by while they approved measures--Patriot act, etc., that have culminated
in what we've seen happen in St.Paul this week.

Also, groups like iWitness video knew full well (because of what happened in NYC) what would likely happen in St.Paul and did zero to work with ACLU, the lawyers guild, and others to preemptively get processes in place before the RNC began.

What all this means is that Democrats---the leadership--- and other groups--- have laid back
and allowed the St.Paul atrocities to happen.

What does this tell you? About Democrats? fyi, I am a Democrat, never a Republican.

3. Epic Fail. Democrats didn't control congress when those measures were past.
And every attempt to roll these backed are blocked in the Senate by Republicans.

4. nice attempt to explain, but it's not accurate
you're leaving out the part where the Senate has nothing near a 60 seat majority needed to keep dumya to stop them from blocking a veto, but more importantly, barely 50 votes at times to try and pass anything. they have been weaker than they should be, but the biggest blame goes to the NAZI-REPUBLICAN Party of dumya who blocks attempts to change anything. With a strong victory in November, we will then have NO excuse if anything like this happens - although I highly doubt this would happen under President Obama.

7. Sorry, but you are wrong. There are many ways that the Dems could have erected procedural
roadblocks to stop the reauthorization of the Patriot Act, the FISA debacle, the Military Commissions Act. They did not do it because they are spineless. The so-called Democratic leaders, Reid and Pelosi are so afraid of Bush that they run and hide from him.

Remember when Chris Dodd tried to put a hold on the FISA reauthorization and Reid, the Democratic Senate Majority Leader undercut him? How many times have the Republicans done obstructionist shit like that to stop something they didn't like? Time and time again.

Please don't alibi for these Democrats. They are pitiful.

If Bush had any respect for the Dems he would not have his Fatherland Security Gestapo out doing this fascist crap. He knows the Dems will not do jack shit.

I say they are spineless because I do not want to contemplate the fact that they may actually agree with the legislation they have been complicit in allowing to pass. Makes me sick for my country.

5. WRONG. Homeland Security is in command = the Bush Junta. Bye now!!
The police in the area are all directly under command of George W. Bush.

8. typical...
I am so sick of this shit. You know who is to blame? "We the people" are to blame. And as long as people suck up the bullshit and get off on hate, it will get worse, and worse. Then who are you going to blame?

2. "They had no badges or other identification, just beige uniforms with black riot gear."
No way, no how would I go with "unmarked security in riot gear who refused to identify who they were." This would be kidnapping.

I wonder if these goons were Blackwater...

6. "No way, no how would i go with blah blah blah." You are kidding, right?
What the hell would you do? Sit down? Refuse to go? Give me a break, they didn't ask those people to go with them. They grabbed them by the arm and took them with them.

They would just taser you or lock you up for resisting arrest or being a terrorist if you resisted.

These people are not police, they are Gestapo. No other way to describe it.

13. You're damn right I would have cooperated. I'm not stupid. But I guess you're a hero, right.
And you'd better believe it was scary as shit when those people got snatched by those gentle souls in riot gear.

15. I wondered the same thing.
I guess private corporations don't have to observe the Constitution. After all, it's just a "goddamn," but "quaint," piece of paper...

19. I bet your local police force already has all the same training and gear courtesy of our Homeland
Security tax dollars. Do you feel safer as a result? I certainly don't. These inhuman militaristic robots are not protecting our freedoms. They are taking our freedoms away.

It makes me sick.

18. Any new information on these goons?
Has anyone heard if these blackshirts were ever identified as part of a legitimate legal authority?
