That makes her a secessionst sympathizer.

The Alaska Independence Party is a tiny minnow, politically speaking. I guess they hold their annual meeting in Alaska every single year. So there's no need for the sitting Governor to take time out from her busy schedule (and pregnancy) to make them a video greeting.

It is pure greed on Palin's part, hoping that the Alaska Independence Party will support her re-election as Governor instead of standing a candidate against her (therby splitting the moose-hunting vote).

But it seems that her hubby used to be a member of the AIP - so maybe she is planning to set up a secessionist sleeper cell inside the Whitehouse.

6. This is nothing.

She specifically refers to them as "your party" and "competition". In no way is she saying anything other than many parties make for better elections. Of all the things which make her a horrifying VP candidate, frankly this isn't it.

It is easy to demonize our opposition as one dimensional freaks, but that just isn't reality. Sometimes they say the right things, and sometimes, even for the right reasons. This is one of those cases. Let it go.

There are so many more important reasons to keep her as far away from the White House as possible (and Alaska seems like a safe distance) that we look like idiots when we swing at pitches like this.

Troopergate, lack of actual experience (she's been Governer for less time than McCain has been running for Prez in this election!), cronyism, making politics personal, ANWR drilling, denial of global warming, the list goes on and on. Let's try to stay focused here.
