Minnesotans know that Norm Coleman isn't working for them in Washington. This ad is the latest in our series exploring just who he is working for -- and what he's getting in return.

3. Al could have done this as a talking human head just as effectively
Making it funny dilutes the importance of the message, IMO

4. Disagree
Making it funny means more people will want to watch it. It will get word-of-mouth traffic to his web site and will, through that increase, help the message get out.

6. People don't want a Senator who is a comedian - the challenge is to use Franken's
genius without him being pigeonholed as a "comedian running for Senate" - thus the talking fish, rather than Al.

Just my 2 cents.

:hi:

7. Whatever -- I just don't think it's as effective as it could be
Don't get me wrong -- I love the message. That particular execution doesn't work for me.

11. What if Jon Stewart ran for Senate?
Do you think that JS would get much of a vote (even though he is a comedian?)

And don't forget,

Coleman is a tool.

8. I think it's great -- Al's comedy gift should be USED!
Comedy is a great way to communicate truth....actually you can't even really make fun of something effectively if there's no truth to it.

He's a comic -- but not a clown, like Norm. GO AL!

9. Both Paul Wellstone and Jesse Ventura used humorous ads
in Minnesota elections and won. Maybe they have a sense of humor up there. Al should definitely play to his strengths. He's funny and should be himself. Coleman is a standard issue Republican politician. The ad highlights that. Besides, it's so different that it will get lots of free media play.

I love the talking fish. Go Al!!!!

10. That was great!
I have one of those stupid fish things.
Glad Al figured out something constructive to do with it.

13. Excellent and about time, too.
I've always thought that it was a big mistake for Al to listen to these professional political hacks and let them run his campaign. All they seem to excel at is to make any race close enough to steal by making all candidates look, sound, and lie the same.

We have a world class and world famous comedian, so lets make sure he is never funny and says exactly the same crap all of our other candidates say.
