My freeper brother-in-law sent me this. The actor is supposed to be Thomas Paine, and he rails against people who come to America and don't learn the language (spare your brain cells. The video really isn't worth watching).

Here's the response I sent my brother-in-law.

"It's interesting that they use Thomas Paine as the character for this speech. He was an immigrant, and he fought against his own country. To Americans he was a hero, but to his own country he was a traitor. He also lived in France for several years, and didn't bother to learn the French language -- exactly the attitude that the video rails against. Poor choice for this particular speech."

1. make up 'truth' as you go along...that's why being a rightwinger is so easy
and, let's be blunt about it- it isn't a disagreement, it's a fight to the death in which one side obeys rules which the other laffs at (a loser is a loser, get it?) So iow the only way to convince a rightwinger about truth is to...(!)...(oddly enough, the reactionaries themselves give voice to the best reasoning for cap pun- once they's daid, they no longer fill the air with lies) Rightwingers are liars by design....it's everybody's duty to shut them down

2. Another interesting point
The brother in law who sent me this is also a Cajun from South Louisiana, and proud of his heritage. It's interesting that he'd embrace this nonsense that demands that people give up their language and culture when he's part of the longest-surviving immigrant culture in the nation (non-English, that is).

How can he not see this?

3. Its more Alexander Hamilton than Paine.
Remember AH wanted a monarchical president. Y'know sort of like what we have now. :smoke:
