It's almost comforting to believe that, as Suskind says, "A guy like Colen powell was not informed of it (the specious rationale for attacking a sovereign country)." It'd be nice to believe Powell was once on our side. But as he said in a closed doors meeting before his infamous anthrax lie, "This is bullshit!" The General knew then as he knows now.
But we the "out of the loop" people of DU and many other citizens knew the vial of anthrax/smoking gun equals mushroom cloud boogeymen was never under the bed. So how to get oil money from a contented populous?
So the neocons did what so many adolescents do when they want to get rich yesterday: They formed a band. "Iraq and roll". Powell, with his inexplicable reputation as a straight shooter (maybe from his training at the military firing range?), would beat the drums of war while Cheney would rattle the sabre in tune. Bush would be the singer/frontman. The MSM strummed the six string and looked sexy.
Of course REAL bands such as The Dixie Chicks had to go. Obviously out of tune. M.C. Rove? Now there's a talent. Great manager too.
Hollywood gossip alert: There's a new single in the works: "Bomb Bomb Bomb Iran".
