Script for Obama Ad “Pocket”

Anncr VO: Every time you fill your tank, the oil companies fill their pockets.

Now Big Oil’s filling John McCain’s campaign with 2 million dollars in contributions.

Because instead of taxing their windfall profits to help drivers, McCain wants to give them another 4 billion in tax breaks.

After one president in the pocket of big oil… We can’t afford another.

Barack Obama… A windfall profits tax on big oil to give families a thousand dollar rebate.

A president who’ll stand up for you.

Barack VO: I’m Barack Obama and I approve this message

1. What a difference. Obama ad based on facts vs. McCain ad based on Britney and Paris
Obama doesn't have to go for personal attacks, lies, innuendo, or "E GADS! WILLIE HORTON!" type ads. All he has to do is present McCain's record based on the FACTS of his record. The Rovian mud will still work with weak minds, but fighting the Swift Boat style lies with FightTheSmears.com is simply brilliant. The McCain camp still doesn't grasp the concept of the Internet. You just can't claim you never said something when there are dozens of clips within a few search runs that prove you did.

3. Great ad! Obama shouldn't respond to McCain's ads.
Edited on Mon Aug-04-08 10:32 AM by Jim__
He should clobber McCain with his record. A couple of ads showing the old man sleeping through Senate hearings wouldn'd be bad either.

4. Bam! This is EXACTLY the kind of ad he needs to be running...
Chain Bush to McSame and watch the nitwit pull the old man down like the albatross he is.

5. Yeah!! Please, Obama campaign... ALWAYS show McCain with Bush.
At every single opportunity, tie McCain to Bush. That's how to win this election.

10. Yes, yes, yes, a thousand times yes...
That's exactly how to turn this muther around.

Step One -- show Bush for the failure that he is. Iraq, Katrina, bad energy policy, tax policy favoring the wealthy, etc.

Step Two -- Tie McCain to Bush

Step Three -- move into the White House

7. I like the ad, a lot, but we have to ask this question...
...has big oil, either overtly or through surrogates, donated to any part of the Obama campaign? I hope this issue has been vetted because if not, it will make BO look like a hypocrit, and null this add.

17. No they haven't
Obama sends back any donation that is linked to a PAC of any kind. He's done an awesome job of staying away from energy lobbyists and affiliates who send out cash.

...however many degrees of separation it is, the Right will have a field day with it.

20. there was a DUer
Who once had a small affiliation with some energy PAC or something along those lines, I think, like years ago, and when they sent a contribution to Obama, the campaign sent it back and gave the reason. Pretty thorough stuff.

24. earlier today
someone in the msm (sorry, forget where I saw it) called him a hypcrote because he supposedly received $400,000 from oil. So if it was returned, the campaign needs to be ready to to show that pronto. Need to ready to respond to those kinds of claims.

Edited on Mon Aug-04-08 02:51 PM by McCamy Taylor
otherwise it is a good ad. Obama is not a talk show host (note that McCain ads always show Obama with a microphone in his hand). Also, McCain ads always show Obama in the shadows and McCain in the light for a reason. Therefore, Obama ads should do the opposite.

19. great ad
More ad's like this please! Hit McSame on his record which is very easy to do. But McSame's negative ad's are working, Rasmussen has McSame even with Obama today. Obama needs to go on the offensive and fast. The Rove rogues are running the McSame show now so it will be negative through November. Please don't make the same mistake Kerry made. Hit McSame every chance you get and continue to show him with Bush.

27. Same $4 Billion figure?
A recent McCain ad claimed that Obama was in favor of funneling $4 billion to the oil companies, including $1.2 (or 1.4) to Exxon alone. Is it the same $4 billion they're both referring to? What's the scoop?
