5. she mentioned the huge amount of water and grain that

were being needed to produce a pound of meat and how worldwide food shortages could be eased with a move away from a meat-based diet. Obama even said, "the Vegan Outreach woman can ask the next questions" (she had a t-shirt on). It was cute.

Of course, he said he had to preface his reply by saying he eats meat, but that obesity caused trillions of dollars in healthcare costs, and how western diets, heavy in meat, were now being introduced into diets that were traditionally less meat-based, which puts further strains on world food supplies, and we could all benefit from being more healthy even if we don't all become vegans.

It was a smart, respectful answer to her question. I hope I made sense.

find it hilarious that the anchor reported dealing with the protestors by "answering their questions" as if it were some NEW, INNOVATIVE strategy that nobody had ever tried before? This is what the last eight years have brought us to...actually LISTENING to other opinions is hailed as new thinking.
