1. I was in first grade...

I think I remember the politics because my folks were so involved. Political debate around the dinner table was as common as salt.

I suspect pictures of us will look funny to others in forty years too:)

3. 5th grade

The main thing that I and everyone then remembers is of course the Kennedy assassination. They brought in television sets into our classroom when it happened. This only lasted about half an hour before they told us all to go home, as best I can remember they didn't tell us why. Four days of television with nothing but assassination coverage on our 3 channels black and white set. I was watching live when Ruby shot Oswald. Memories that had no comparison until 9/11.

4. I was actually in my third year of high school.

I was 14. I'd just moved to Toronto, and was wandering around, a farm girl in the big city.

And yes, I remember JFK and RFK dying, I remember the clothes and the music and the wars. We don't seem to have come all that far, frankly.
