2. people really just don't like this guy...
lol... you can't get more bored. the looks on 99% of people's faces says it all. and when he pushes out the big energy for him, and says "wrong then, and wrong now", he sounds so "get off my lawn kids"-like. :)

Like the green screen speech - ugh... "that's not change you can believe innnnn" - painful.

obama surrogates should just keep repeating these sound bites over and over again until its burned in every voters brain

- the longer we occupy iraq the more it hurts our economy
- the longer we stay the more we pay

13. You Nailed it. The Military use of Oil is tremendous
In the "First" Irag war, the media was all happy to proclaim that all fuel was donated by the Kuwait-ies to get their country back.

This time, there was no consensus, so we pay the full dime on fuel for our troops.

Since we print the money we use to buy oil, this is the reason that OIL has increased.. The U.S. Dollar is davalued, especially when * is at the helm, and the Wrecking Crew is dismantling the regulatory aspect of the Government.

You think flying from Homestead AFB in Florida to Iraq and back is cheap? Ask American Airlines, Aloha Airlines, ATA Airlines, and the several dozen others that have gone bankrupt in order to supply fuel to the Military, not to succeed, but to survive on the battleground. Civilian travelers be damned, Military has priority, although the M$M will be loathe to equate that cost to the war in this war.

When will people wake up to this?

6. Having been told to leave Iraq
Edited on Sat Jul-19-08 09:19 PM by ooglymoogly
The bushbots are whistling victory, having brought Iraq and the US to absolute ruin, destabilizing the entire region and for that matter the world; Making Iran the undisputed power in the region; All of which was predicted in intricate detail. But hey the Robber Barrons made out so fabulously they can buy their own countries, so maybe the cya corporate media is right; It is not the total shitcan horror that it appears.

9. Snake eating its tail
Like an old ouroboros McCain keeps digesting himself. First he says we have to stay in Iraq for 100 years, and that he can "win" the war. Then he says that the US has succeeded. If the US has succeeded then it's time for withdrawal no? No not until we win, which could take 100 years or more.

What kind of brain-dead zombies sit in that audience and clap to that nonsense.

10. McSame has a Speaker Implanted into his head
Why does the crowd erupt into applause from a seemingly innocuous remark?

Also notice how they pan away from the crowd when people start to discuss what he just said, or when people show disbelief at the buffoonery of this creature.

These people are poor, looking for a handout or a free meal, and aggreeing with the production code will get them whatever they think selling their soul is worth.

12. Dumbass.
"I think the majority of the American people are smart ... and they know that we are succeeding in Iraq (Amber: oh yeah, that's ever so evident), and they know that we have *succeeded* in Iraq ... and I am confident that we will, and I am confident that we will win this war when we keep on with the present strategy and not do what Senator Obama wants to do, and that's set specific dates for withdrawal. And again, I'd like to point out the same people that're sayin' that we have ta (sic) set dates for withdrawal are the same people that we would fail in Iraq, that we would fail in Iraq ... they were wrong then, and they're wrong now."

Oh but but, what about that "horizon" Mr. Bush is talking about?

Funny (not) thing about the horizon ... it keeps moving away as you grow ever closer.

16. "Democrat politicians" and "facts on the ground"
We need to squash this language monopolization bullshit. He could have very much more easily have said Democrats instead of "democrat politicians". He intentionally avoids saying democratic politicians or Democratic Party politicians. It sounds like he has been coached by Rush Limbaugh or Karl Rove. Even his use of the word "politician" is annoying. Isn't John McCain a politician too? No, he's a war hero and a United States Senator. Never mind that he failed his mission in Vietnam and got shot down and was held captive by his enemy. Audie Murphy and my grandfather were war heroes. Audie Murphy killed a bunch of Nazis and my grandfather was wounded rescuing a wounded soldier during battle. That's heroism. Getting captured and tormented in a prison in the service to your country is unfortunate and laudable, I admit, but it's not exactly heroic.

Facts do not lie on the ground or anywhere else. They exist only in our minds. Facts simply exist subjectively in our interpretation of experiences. Facts are not objective truths (as some would understandably insist that they must be). Facts are agreed upon truths that withstand the scrutiny of rational human beings and are verified by research and evidence. The term "facts on the ground in Iraq" is meaningless. His intention is to encapsulate in a phrase the conditions extant in the Iraqi theater of conflict. He is speaking down to his audience. He is attempting to convince voters that his philosophy of action with regard to this theater of conflict is superior to his opponent. Why doesn't he just say that? We let the neocons get away with too much of this sort of gift-wrapped speaking style. McCain is trying (very clumsily) to appeal to the lowest common denominator voter. You know, the kind that doesn't even know what a lowest common denominator is.

Ask McCain, "What are the facts on the ground?" He will say, "Violence is down. The surge is working. The surge was my idea. The Iraqis are taking control of their country." Ask McCain, "What are the other facts?" He will say, "What other facts?" Ask, "The facts that are not on the ground. The facts such as what has this conflict cost the American public in the way of their civil liberties, their tax burden, their homeland infrastructure. And what has it cost the people of Iraq, you know, the people that we are there to protect? Their sovereignty, their dead and mutilated civilians, their loss of services and infrastructure, their demolished economy and culture, their hate of us and their bitterness?"

I expect that he would retreat from this line of questioning by avoiding the answer for two reasons: He doesn't really know the "facts" and if he did the "facts" wouldn't coincide with his vision of what America should do under his administration.

17. To paraphrase the good senator:
The same people who say we are succeeding in Iraq are the same people who said we've been succeeding all along. They were wrong then and they are wrong now.
