John McCain, appearing on CNN's "American Morning" stated that despite what the numbers say, his Economic Plan that includes continuing Bush's tax cuts for the wealthy, would balance the budget.

CNN's John Roberts posed the question, "Senator, you can't get over the fact, though, that extending the Bush tax cuts, as you want to do, and adding in your tax cuts do take the deficit number from -- we actually go from a $70 billion surplus to a $445 billion deficit. So, it's those tax cuts."

McCain avoided directly answering the question and offered a classic Republican talking point, "It's Government Over Spending."

The United States spends approximately $275 million per day on the Iraq war and the total cost of the war is projected to to be around 3 trillion.

McCain has stated we may remain in Iraq "for a hundred years."

Additionally, as Obama stated in a speech July 7th, in MO, "McCain's economic plan would give $1.2 billion in tax breaks to Exxon Mobil, with less than a quarter of the benefits going to the middle class.

McCain ``has no concrete plan to pay for these tax breaks, so his policies would actually add more than $2 or $3 trillion to the national debt over the next decade and weaken our economy even further." ( http://my.barackobama.com/page/content/hqblog#top )

1. More lies
McCain said, "We restrain spending."

Never once does he mention the outrageous amount of money, they are spending on the Iraq war.

7. That's off the books.

As far as I know, at least.

If he's elected, he will balance the "budget" come hell or high water. Unfortunately, he'll do it on the backs of 95% of the population.

And look at that! My jaw dropped in disbelief when I realized that somebody in the media was almost asking McCain real questions for once. I think that's the hardest I've seen anybody push him since he became the nominee (granted, even in that interview, they were only 30% as hard on him as they normally are on Obama).

2. Oh,I get it now...
earmarks have to be put through 'in the middle of the night,' as McCain says. Good stuff.

I wonder what his definition of 'pork-barrel' really is.

3. lol! Right
It's not really an "earmark," even though McCain used the exact word, "earmark" in the letter he wrote to Bush.

4. At this point McCain can say just about anything he wants.
Only idiots are voting for him so nothing he says will cost him that many votes.

5. Blinky is back
Holy mackerel. Do a blink count on McCain during this interview. It is well-known, my friends, that when someone is telling lies, his blink rate increases greatly. We can see it every time bush speaks. Watch McCain here. His blink rate is off the charts! A dead give-away. Everything he's saying here is a blatant lie.
Very illuminating.
