This is a great analysis by Cenk of Clark's veepstakes, but I disagree with him because I think Obama's number one criterion is to have a VP who is already on board with Barack's populist, grass-roots, social-responsibility agenda and platform----and that's Edwards the way I see it. If Obama's serious and genuine, and I believe he is, then what he envisions will take more then 8 years: he must be eying 2016 and through the next two terms, and there's no better candidate then Edwards in my opinion who also possesses all of the other Veep credentials Cenk discusses. That said, Cenk offers good insight (as always) into the issues and therefore merits notice.

1. Cenk always makes it interesting
no matter what he's talking about. I have no idea who Obama will choose..time will tell.

The person has to be someone who's wants change as much as our canidate and can work well with him for a long time..and it is not to be taken lightly.

6. I completely agree with you....
Cenk makes his shows so interesting (and funny at times) that he's so easy to listen to. I really enjoy these TYT clips.

2. One problem with your analysis
Edwards has stated publicly that he is not interested in the VP slot. He is, by all accounts, angling for the Attorney General job.

4. I agree..
The others are great and I think someone like Richardson is a close 2nd.

But Clark really does check off those things that COULD give McCain some leeway in some states.

You get Clark on and you just secured places like Louisiana in my view.

5. I agree on Clark checking off so many boxes

I was originally for Edwards, but from a political standpoint, I think Clark would make a better VP candidate for all the reasons Cenk offers. And look, it's a LOT harder to smear Clark as opposed to the obnoxious smears we've already seen with Edwards.

Fox Attacks gives us a good preview of what an Obama/Edwards ticket would look like from the smear perspective: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Yp-MeXSysE

PS---Anyone who hasn't already, make sure you check out Cenk's take on the tax plans of Obama Vs McCain: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=385x147839

8. YIIIIIIPPPPPPPEEEEEEEE! Cenk!
As a former Clarkie from his 2004 campaign, how we agree ENTHUSIASTICALLY!

Me and you likey Clark LOTS!

I've already posted on all the pluses Wes Clark would add to the ticket. . .let me just reiterate 3 biggies:

---Wes is a PROGRESSIVE economist, having been a Rhodes scholar and prof in economics. . . .you may say "progressive" and "general" don't ever co-exist. . .think again. . .read Clark's economic positions from 2004 :

http://securingamerica.com/issues/overview

---Wes, as THE stellar choice for national security expertise, would be part of a FDR-like "brain trust" for Barack. . .the VP person has to be THE ADVISER for Barack and getting out of Iraq and re-establishing sound Mideast policy is TOP PRIORITY. . .WES IS THE MAN FOR THIS JOB!

---as a retired SACEUR-4****general born in Chicago, raised/living in Arkansas, military school in TN, and West Point valedictorian, WES comes from the complementary regions WITHOUT subtracting Democratic strength from Congress.

OBAMA/CLARK 2008

. . .THE JACKPOT TICKET!

AND HEY, CENK, LUV YA!

10. Either Cenk and I wwere separated at birth
or else I know him well enough now that I automatically trust his judgment.

I agree with every word of this. Clark is exactly the right guy for all the reasons that Cenk mentioned. Plus 2 other reasons:

- He is a Clinton supporter, and would be a great choice for healing those wounds

- He doesn't hold a valuable Senate seat that we cannot afford to put at risk

That last point is where Clark wins hands down over Webb. Simply stated, we need Webb, Clinton, and all the other Senators in the Senate.

As soon as Obama announces his running mate, you will see that supposed gap with low income white people and elderly white women disappear. And at that instant, McCain will realize he is in a world of hurt.

Obama is a very smart, intuitive guy. Unless he finds womething very ugly in Clark's background, this is as close to a no-brainer as he will get.
