Appearing on This Week with George Stephanopoulos, Senator John Edwards seemed to indicate that he would consider accepting a Vice President Run.

In response to Stephanopoulos' question, "But, you wouldn't rule it out completely," Edwards stated:

"I'd take anything he asked me to think about seriously."

"But obviously this is something I've done and it's not a job that I'm seeking."

Edwards also drew sharp distinctions between Obama and McCain's tax policies noting that McCain's and Bush's positions are the same.

"Obama wants to grow and strengthen the Middle Class," Edwards said.

McCain's position is just like, "George Bush's war on work...favoring wealth over work."

"It is time to try something different. Obama is offering something different."

4. Um, wrong

Kerry wrote off NC, thus, KERRY lost NC, not Edwards.

Regardless, times have changed and NC is more ripe to turn Blue, after going Red since 1976.

14. Edwards tried to get Kerry
to spend some money and campaign in North Carolina but he would not. He had other places in mind. If Kerry had, he would have won North Carolina and would have won one and perhaps at least two other House seats. A very little known state rep with even less money came within a very few votes of taking Robin Hayes seat.

25. Kerry did not run a TV ad in North Carolina.
Elizabeth Edwards stated that repeatedly during the campaign, especially in Iowa.

Kerry made the calls that caused them to lose in N.C.

We now have Dean, and we shall see.

6. Sorry John - Russert was a DIP-stick, not a Yard-stick
Edited on Sun Jun-15-08 03:33 PM by Phred42
There is a difference.

And Snufalotofus is at least as Reich wing as Russert

That aside - I would love to see Obama/Edwards '08

Would have preferred Edwards/Obama '08 though

And I LOVE John Edwards. Hope he gets the nod for AG.

15. ANYONE Other Than John Edwards and The WHOLE Change Thing...GOES OFF DA TRACKS!
Any Old DLC'er and I include Biden among them will just completely eliminate the "ENERGY" of the campaign. This nonsense about Obama needing a military guy etc is just that.. NONSENSE! That is what the Secretary of Defense is for. Secretary of State is perfect fit for Biden... We MUST HAVE THE CHANGE AGENTS IN CONTROL w/o ANY watered down "INSIDER" in there throwing a WRENCH into it... FOR CORPORATE AMERICA and Israel! :argh:

10. of two minds
first, yes, as veep Edwards creates a ticket that would kick McSame and the best veep he could get (lieberman) in the nuts so hard he'd have to have a second tonsillectomy.

second, wow, I can envision Edwards as AG, or even SCOTUS (a young progressive social advocate would be an immense help) would put the fear of the goddess in the RICO mob currently styling itself our government.

18. So, give him eight years to prepare.
Doing some quick math, in 2016 he'll still be about nine or ten years younger than the current Republican candidate, and he'll be thoroughly groomed for the job!

20. Eight Years
Oh, I don't think so. John has the experience and the know how to bring One America back to the people. John Edwards was the first to lead on every issue the other candidates adopted. Plain and Simple, JRE is the leader we have waited for since the greats such as FDR, Harry Truman, JFK just to name a few.

16. Could go either way
On one hand, he's be a great ddition to the Obama ticket (I think it was TimeForChange who recently posted a good analysis of this). On the other hand, I think that in governing, he'd be more useful as AG or even on the SCOTUS.

I like both those choices and he would be powerful in either position I think. John is about people and people recognize that and in turn respect him.

22. John Edwards would be a great asset in the campaign and in the new administration.
I remember during his campaign when 30 top economists came out in favor of Edwards. His economic models would be tilted toward restoring the middle class and helping poor people to work toward middle class status.

26. John Edwards is one of the few politicians with at least some academic
background in economics and business management. Edwards' undergrad major was mill management, I have heard. His major would have required some business courses.

Edited on Sun Jun-15-08 11:50 PM by Cali_Democrat
When polling is done with Edwards as VP, he seems to get a lot of support in PA and Ohio.

I would love to have him as VP.

How Rush Limbaugh like.

Sad to see it posted on a Democratic site. Pathetic, really.

BTW, Edwards is not and never has been DLC. That false rumor was long ago debunked.

29. johnny boy was a DLCer
the entire time he was in the senate. It's been no secret.

The picture of his house and land has been all over the net for years. It's an aerial shot that shows the massive amount of trees that were cut down whilst we are in Climate Change.

30. No, he was not
Why are posting Rush Limbaughish comments and photos about a Democrat who is out campaigning for our Democratic Presidential nominee?

What is your problem? Do you want to lose to McCain? Because that's what a circular firing squad will accomplish.

31. Does posting the truth bother you?
Johnnyboy was the senator of my state when he was 1st elected. As I do now where I live, I kept track of his votes then. (Still have a record of some of them.)It was well known that he was a member of the DLC. If you had been paying attention to the 2004 presidential campaign, you would have known that.

He was not a progressive, as his votes bear out. Furthermore, he did not respond to his constituents emails/letters. He would have been voted out of the senate had he run for a 2nd term. The majority of North Carolinians were not pleased w/him.

He built that monstrosity of a house after it was quite apparent that we were already in Climate Change. He had that forest of tress cut down when we all should be planting more trees to help w/carbon emissions.

Btw, I received that photo from a Climate Change/Global Warming web site.
