President and Superdelegate Jimmy Carter says "it'll be time for Hillary to give it up" when the remaining superdelegates endorse around June 3rd. While hinting at an Obama endorsement during a Sky News Interview Carter stated:

"I'm a superdelegate ... I think a lot of the superdelegates will make a decision quite, announced quite rapidly, after the final primary on June 3." "I have not yet announced publicly, but I think at that point it will be time for her to give it up," Carter said

1. With Hillary winning...
the vast majority of the high amount of electoral vote states, I believe this is what is making the Superdelegates withold their votes for the time being.

11. I wish some of thosed "democratic Democrats"
would just keep their damn mouths shut! It is hers to win or lose--not theirs. Not Carter, Kerry, Edwards, or that stupid one from South Dakota who is no longer a senator. It is her decision. The things they have said is nothing but interference in an election. I have certainly changed my feelings toward most of them during this election. I am beginning to feel we have a bunch of busy bodies trying to get it their two cents worth and make themselves feel Oh So Important!

15. What the hell are you talking about
She already lost "Hers". That is, the pledged delegate race is the one she could win by campaigning. That is already over. She lost that one. The only way she could win now is the the superdelegates DON'T keep their mouths shut and 95% of the uncommitted ones come out for her.

Give it up. This was over a month ago.

12. Haven't you heard....

the biggest state, California, is now favoring Obama...one of its superdelegates has stated that there are pledged delegates for Hillary who would even switch to Obama. It is clearly time for her to give it up.

7. That could be
But, at what cost to the party and our chances of beating McCain in the general election? That's the key issue here, doncha think?

8. Yeah. Her political clout is going right in the shitter.
And if word on the street holds any water, she might not even hang onto her Senate seat next time around. To which I say, "Don't let the door hit you in the ass on the way out, Hillary."

9. Considering her RFK assassination comment
I certainly would say that her clout isn't improving in recent days. If something like this occurs again or she slams Obama, to the detriment of our chances of winning the general, I don't see how staying in the race, will help her to build her clout.

IOW, I really don't see any advantages for her to stay in. But, I suppose, two weeks may not matter all that much, until after the final primaries. IF, she doesn't make another big mistake. That's a pretty big risk she's taking.

10. In my opinion I think that...
she has done a pretty good job--especially with those states that had the high amount of electoral votes to them. Those red states, that Obama took in the Primaries, that usually are red states all the time, will most likely stay red this November. So like I said--one way or another, political clout!:smoke:

17. What political clout?
She's losing clout, not gaining any.

19. The Statistics.
Barack Obama with 1,969 and Hillary Clinton with 1,779, and you can't see the political clout? And I'm not necessarily talking about winning the nomination, either my friend. Seriously. Look past the tree and notice the forest. :eyes:

20. I've looked at both the trees and the forest
and I see no clout. Can you put it in simplier words? Your post shows that Obama is ahead.

WHERE'S THE CLOUT?

P.S. I am not your friend.

21. I see that you have ran in to a tree...
and still not have figured out that there is a forest in front of you.

PS. I used the phrase figuratively. :eyes:

23. Ah, you that don't know what "clout" means
Clout: noun

4: pull, influence <political clout>

This is something that Clinton may have had at one time. She no longer has any and it's her own fault.

24. Let me put it this way.
Did you see how many votes that Clinton did collect? Those are enough right there to upset the party. If people like you keep on keeping on, you will discover the hard way that clout is more than a definition from Webster's Dictionary--I guarantee it. (Whats that you say? Democrats will vote for Obama if he does get the nomination? Example-- I seen a poll where Ky. Democrats said that they would vote for John McCain in the Fall if Obama makes it. There are Democrats like that all over the states thinking that exact thing--especially Independents. And if you do not think that the GOP will not play video excerpts of the Rev. Wright's remarks in commercials right up up to the big game, than in my opinion, you have no vision of what the GOP are capable of. This election is going to make that 'Swift Boat Veteran thing' look gentle in comparison.):eyes:

Pastiche423: Look. I said this before and I'll say it again. If Obama is the nominee I will vote for him. I would rather vote for the worst person in the Democratic Party running for that office (and I could care less who that would be.) than the best person in the GOP trying to get that position any day. But there again I am a party oriented person; however, not all Democrats are as solid as myself when it comes time to vote.

Most of the time, when elections are held, I donate my time and money toward placing the Democratic nominee in to office. If Barack makes the nomination, which I have a funny feeling that he may do so, than I hope he does make Hillary his running mate.

If Clinton does not become his running mate or have a seat anywhere in Barack Obama's administration, he will not make it in November. Don't believe me? Wait and see.

But all I can do is vote for the gentleman. I do have one vote. Cheers and Good Health to you! :toast:

13. Hillary's OpEd today
Edited on Sun May-25-08 02:29 PM by ultraist
doesn't indicate that she's looking at giving it up, anytime soon:

http://www.nydailynews.com/news/politics/2008/05/25/2008-05-25_hillary_why_i_continue_to_run.html?page=0

"I am running because I believe I'm the strongest candidate to stand toe-to-toe with Sen. McCain. Delegate math might be complicated - but electoral math is not. Our campaign is winning the popular vote - and we've been winning the swing states we need to get 270 electoral votes and take back the White House: Pennsylvania, Ohio, Arkansas, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, Nevada, Michigan, Florida and West Virginia."

14. she's winning the popular vote IF you count Mich & Fla AND do NOT count caucus votes
LOL!

Natch HRC wants to count Mich & Fla votes EXACTLY as recorded... Obama wasn't even on the ballot in Michigan as he did what the DNC requested and withdrew his name.

Her campaign will use every way possible to twist the numbers so they can claim she is winning SOMETHING.

6. Yes, Carter will endorse Obama
Edited on Sun May-25-08 12:19 PM by ultraist
He's hinted at it on a few occassions. Since this statement, I think it's clear, he'll do so right after the last June 3rd primary as will a number of other remaining superdelegates.
