Farm subsidies. When the space shuttle disintegrated over Texas, there was a farm subsidy for those who found pieces. Thom {told} the story of how, when he was immersed in Jefferson research, he saw the headline "Columbia Dies over Texas" he at first thought Bush had somehow killed the Goddess of America. He told how Columbia became the Goddess of America. She's on top of the Capitol building, and with scales as the Lady Liberty that John Ashcroft covered over. Why DC has no representatives.

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Personification of Columbia, from a Columbia Records phonograph cylinder package.Columbia (IPA: /kəˈlʌmbiə/) is the first popular and poetic name for the United States of America; it is also the origin of the name for the District of Columbia, the federal district which is coextensive with the federal capital, Washington. Columbia is a feminine form derived from Christopher Columbus, one of the first Europeans to explore the Americas after the Vikings. The moniker dates from before the American Revolution in 1776 but fell out of use in the early 20th century.

The different economic activities of the pioneers are highlighted and, especially, the changing forms of transportation. The Indians and wild animals flee.More:
