Sebelius is a Democratic governor in a Republican state, and so has obviously pulled in significant numbers of Republican and independent voters. Heck, she flipped a former state GOP chairman — Mark Parkinson — to become a Democrat and her lieutenant governor.
An Obama-Sebelius ticket would be more appealing to moderate Republicans and independents and plays into Obama’s message of tearing down walls between voters, parties, etc

4. The DLC needs to go. That includes Evan Bayt too
Sorry, but they need to go back and "Lead" the Republicans away from the far right and not "Lead" the democractic party to the right.

If that's labeling...then they've done it to themselves.

3. It's an idea worth serious consideration
According to Wiki, "In 1994 she left the House to run for state insurance commissioner and stunned political forecasters by winning — the first time a Democrat had won in more than 100 years. She is credited with bringing the agency out from under the influence of the insurance industry. She refused to take campaign contributions from insurers and blocked the proposed merger of Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas, the state's largest health insurer, with an Indiana-based company. The decision by Sebelius marked the first time the corporation had been rebuffed in its acquisition attempts."

Insurance commissioners are notorious for catering to the insurance industry. Commissioners like Sebelius are very, very rare -- someone who actually represents the interests of state resident insureds instead of catering to the money and power that typically influence state insurance agencies. To go from a record like that into the office of governor is very impressive. She would probably be right in tune with Obama's promise of freedom from the special interests in Washington.

5. Sebelius seems cool, smart and steady.
Kathleen Sebelius as VP (Obama should nominate her now :-) )

6. Governor Sebelius is on the short list
along with Governors Richardson and Napolitano. I also suspect that there are a few more like General Clark, Governor Ted Strickland and Senator Jim Webb.

Any of the above would make a kick-ass ticket. A darkhorse may be Bob Graham of Fla.

7. VP
The smartest choice would be Wesley Clark. Not only is he intelligent and articulate, he is a four star General that would put McCain to the ground re: Iraq. Moreover, he is not a sitting Democrat in an important elected position (Sebelius, Webb, etc.), which the Democrats would have to run another campaign to replace.

AND, most importantly, he is a strong supporter of Hillary, his Arkansas friend. Clark would begin to heal the divide between the two camps.

9. Bear in mind who Clark endorsed in this race
He endorsed Clinton, not Obama. That alone shouldn't necessarily eliminate him, but it isn't a strong point when McCain can say to Obama, "your vp nominee, who is a leader in the democratic party, didn't even endorse you as a presidential candidate. He endorsed your rival."

8. Isn't Sebelius
The one who spoke after Bush's State of the Union speech. I'm sorry but this woman bored the shit out of me in her response to Bush. She's not a good speaker. I think Obama needs a male VP if not Hillary. I don't want him to pick Hillary but I think she is the only woman that would work better. But I think an Obama/Hillary ticket would not be a good idea and would be doomed in November. Obama needs someone who has more popularity and experience someone like Jim Webb.

10. Sebelius is a high achiever who has forged a tremendous reputation as a Democratic governor
in a red state. You couldn't ask for a better narrative to fit into the idea of a coalition that stretches through both blue and red states. Sebelius brings excellent experience, and puts a red states in play.

11. Talk about really pushing his Change message
Putting another Washington outsider on the ticket, a woman, and someone from a red state. That would really signal how real he is about change. Would be interesting. Wonder how she would debate Huckabee or Tim Pawlenty
