11. I saw the moon walking bear
but only because "The Bear" was in the video title.

Great analogy!

12. Not that great...
Co-opting an ad promoting awareness of cyclists on the road is just lame. McCain is Bush lite and evil, blah...blah...blah... But as a cyclist, using an ad for something completely unrelated ?
Thanks for belittling all of us who have been hit by cars for your 'humorous' little McCain-bashing.
Idiots.

14. Let's ask Bob ...
Edited on Sat May-10-08 02:28 AM by Rottenmac
over at Huffington Post how it feels...
My name is Bob Cesca. I’m a blogger for the Huffington Post. I’m also a cyclist and a daily reader of DrunkCyclist.com. I know you’ve been documenting car vs. cyclist accidents, so I thought I’d tell you about mine. On Friday I was riding through Wernersville Pennsylvania when a carload of distracted teenagers made a right-hand turn at an intersection
– cutting me off and forcing me to slam into the side of their stupid car.

But I’m lucky in that I only *almost* broke my back when I hit the
pavement. Fortunately, the doctors at the ER determined that I only strained a bunch of muscles. Suffice to say, I won’t be riding for a couple of weeks while I recover. The Percocet is awesome.

Please continue to get the word out about stupid dingus drivers. I think what saved me was an awareness of how to deal with this kind of situation — I tried to turn with the car, but couldn’t turn fast enough to avoid the impact. But it helped.

Or maybe this person's family or how about How would YOU feel if this was your mother?

Im guessing you drive an SUV while drinking your latte and chatting on your cell phone. And yes, I am sensitive as I have been hit multiple times by idiots in cars who have no charges filed against them. So when I see someone using an ad designed to raise awareness about sharing the road with us, I DO GET A BIT PISSY.

SO to reiterate, using the video to illustrate McCain as 'the dancing bear' is a load of crap. You may as well call him Loch Ness or Bigfoot. THAT would be more accurate and not as insulting to those of us who get hit by irresponsible idiots.

:banghead:

20. I had not seen that ad and would not have see it, had I not seen it here.
in the context of a discussion about McCain. I may have missed the bear, but I did not miss the the reminder at the end about watching for bicyclists. Cenk and TYT are doing a good thing by playing the ad. The reminder about the bicyclists made more of an impression on me because I will think that missing a bicyclist is like missing McCain. And as a serious Democrat, that makes more of an impression on me than the moon walking bear.

So, having ridden a bike a lot as a child, I understand how important it is to watch for bikes, but there is no reason to criticize Cenk for showing the ad and giving it a new twist. His statements draw more attention to the ad not less, and that is a good thing.

16. Actually I did notice the ad was a PSA in Britain. But when
I thought of cyclists I thought about motor bikes. Calling people idiots because they see humor in what was MEANT to be a humorous piece is kinda like the pot calling the kettle black, don't ja think?

I too was injured by a car while riding a motorcycle. I spent a year on crutches and had two surgery's but I don't see the harm here. Wouldn't it be better to just point out the ad was to warn drivers to watch out for bikes and drop the name calling?

17. As soon as i saw the "Watch For Cyclists" at the end it made me see how I could easily miss them...
when i'm behind the wheel...

isn't that the fucking point?!?!?!?

i must say i would NEVER have been aware of this brilliant video and the point it makes about watching out for cyclists if not for Cenk playing it on TYT.

you should be thankful.

I was impacted by the message about watching out for cyclists, even though they were using this as an analogy.

Just embarrassing.

You are being so over the top and dramatic here that I have to conclude it's a joke. I imagine a world without humor and it's a place I would hate to live in.
