I'd really like to get some feedback on this from outside of the US.

16. Blowing the Doctor
That would have gotten me into a bit of trouble with my wife.

2. would I switch health care with Americans?
No.

Thank you.

Not even if someone down there would cover me.

I prefer a not for profit, single payer system, thank you.

3. I think 'Sicko!' answered that question
NO! Nobody in Canada, the U.K., or any of the EU would want to experience the American system. I am familiar with the French system, and there is just no comparison. In other countries, health care is thought of as a human right that citizens deserve. In the U.S., health care is a consumer product with prices set by a cartel and health insurance is a bet against the house in a casino.

Thanks. We Americans tend to think we do everything better than every other country.

4. I've got four older sisters and a brother...and they are really pissed .....
..that we should be "giving free health care to everybody in this country." Gosh...they are all receiving medicare and medicaid.....wonder where they think that comes from. ALL repugs. All suck ass stupid.

Damn, do people turn repug just because they have IRA's they want to see protected, and they don't give a rat's ass about anyone else or anything else? Such butt heads.

5. not a chance
I work in the Canadian Medical System and I wouldn't switch my care or my employment.

If your finger cut had occurred in Nova Scotia, where I practice your visit would have been covered, I would have seen you in the office and done the suture in the office. If it was during office hours and you were being seen without insurance (a visitor from another country, for instance) you would have been billed privately for maybe 70-100 dollars, if it was after hours, maybe as high as 150 bucks.

But when a profit doesn't need to be built in for corporations, you get more for less.

Yes wait times can be longer, but we don't have a system that allows the rich to jump the line. And no one waits if it is an emergency. I work in rural nova scotia and I can have an emergent CT scan today for a patient that needs one, I can have a patient seen by a specialist and surgery done tonight for emergencies. Those non-urgent issues will and can wait.

6. Question:

Are their medical places where rich people can go and pay out of their pocket to "jump the line"?

13. At many teaching hospitals
The uninsured or what used to be called "charity cases" get seen by trainees. Private pay people get their professors.

Who would you want, if you were seriously ill?

14. The best surgeon I've ever had
was a trainee. I am able to use my hands because of that trainee.

Granted, of course, most of the hospitals in downtown Toronto are teaching hospitals, and the trainees are supervised quite closely.

10. What I think
I can this this easily. If you were rushed to the hospital and they told you that you needed life saving surgery, would you rather be an American with no health insurance, or from Europe and fully covered? I have been told by people that if I would have lived in the 1700s I would have wanted the British to win simply because I think Americans should have Health Care.. I guess I'm some sort of
__________<<< Fill in the blank.
