And the reason why each and every member of the entrenched Washington Establishment of unaccountable incumbency must be replaced. Regardless if they have a D or an R in front of their name, they share frighteningly similar views. We're at one of, if not the most, important times in the history of our species with global warming, energy, globalization, proliferation of nuclear weapons, and unparalleled corporate power. So-called "moderate" Democrats will no longer fight for the interests of the less-privileged 90%. These people are NOT our friends. They are not friends of the vast majority of people.
Drastic solutions are the only things that are going to prevent the other shoe from dropping, or at least making the landing a softer one. The economic elite are vigorous and unrelenting in making sure that their goals of complete privatization and upward redistribution of wealth come to fruition. This world view of complete Darwinian economic and military domination, rather than compassion and concern for one another, is the real issue; this is embodied by groups like the Heritage Foundation, PAC, TWO, etc.
This is a battle of sustainability of our species and way of life...also the RIGHT of people in other nations to live the way many of us in the US have for many years. I know that objectivist language is kind of frowned upon, but I can honestly say without hesitation that we, on the left, are on the good side of a true battle between good and evil that is unfolding before us. We can no longer allow ourselves to be distracted by Washington tabloid side-stories like whether Dick Durban actually compared Bush's behavior to Halter in reference to detainee treatment (not to downplay that issue..it is VERY important). Nor, can we allow ourselves to be concerned with whether John Kerry made a joke or not about "ending up in Iraq." We can't allow ourselves to be distracted by Howard Dean's scream. I don't think I'm saying anything anyone else in this forum doesn't already know when I say that these little stories are diversions from the big picture. As citizens, at this time in human history, we can no longer take our collective eye off of the ball.
