2. My Hope Just Faded
when he said he had "fallen out of love with politics" - that indicated to me that he will not run again.

3. He's said that before a number of times.

Edited to add: He's also commented on the political process being "toxic" a number of times. Both mean nothing as far as the future is concerned.

6. And just days later he said
So if you decide to run, do you think we would see the Al Gore from the movie? Or the Al Gore from 2000?
Well, I don’t plan to run. I don’t plan to run. And I don’t expect to run.

How many times a day does somebody ask you this?
Well, I’m doing a lot of interviews and it’s on the list of questions. For every one of them. And I appreciate that. I appreciate that people think enough of me still in that world to ask that question. It’s true that I haven’t, uh, gotten to the point where I am willing to completely rule it out for all time. But, that is really more a matter of the internal shifting of gears. I’m not making plans to run again.

But you’re not ruling it out?
Uh… no. (smiles)

source: GQ

He's consistent. He's says he hasn't ruled it out. He's a smart politician. If he wasn't at least thinking about it, he would come right out and say "no" and make a Sherman statement. So, until he comes out and either makes a Sherman-type statement or endorses someone else, I'm not giving up.

If Elaine Kamarck isn't giving up, neither am I.

Draft Gore 08 Meetup: Elaine Kamarck to Speak
posted by: lrphillips
Summary:
Kennedy School of Government's Elaine Kamarck will present:"How to Draft Gore to Run in 2008," Tuesday, December 12 at 7:15 pm.
Description:
We are pleased to announce that Elaine Kamarck, who was senior policy adviser to Vice President Al Gore from 1993-97 will be our special guest to present: "How to Draft Al Gore to Run in 2008."

Dr Kamarck is a Lecturer in Public Policy who came to Harvard's Kennedy School in 1997 after serving in the Clinton administration. In the 1980s, she was one of the founders of the New Democrat movement that helped elect Clinton/Gore. While serving in the White House, she created and managed Al Gores' National Performance Review, also known as: "Reinventing Government".

14. The link was to an announcement of Kamarck's talk
I wish I knew what she said. I took Kamarck's willingness to talk about drafting Gore as a positive sign that those close to Gore are pushing him to run. See, I was involved in some of the draft Gore '04 movements back in the day and whenever we contacted people like Kamarck we didn't get a lot of encouragement from them. They told us that they didn't think Gore wanted to run. After Gore said he wasn't running in 2004 and then he endorsed Dean, well, I took him at his word and went on to work for Dean and then for Kerry. This time around it is a much different environment and just the fact that Kamarck is talking about Gore as a presidential candidate gives me a lot of hope.

I got the contact information from the link and I've passed it on to the main instigators behind http://algore.org and they are going to contact them. If I find out anything I will let others know.

13. I love it, and very clever opening song ...
"It's getting hot in here, let's take off all our clothes." :D

That said it's so nice to see him relaxed and assured. He's such a great teacher about environmental responsibility that, if he doesn't run, I'm be quite satisfied to see him play either a formal or informal role in a Dem presidential administration pushing environmental issues. I wonder if that's what he'd really like to do. When he says he's fallen out of love for politics, I don't doubt he really means that given what he's watched that last 14 years.
