A new group!
It's good to see the creation of this group.

I recently filed to become a precinct delegate in Michigan, and look forward to working with the MDP and county party to re-elect Governor Granholm and Senator Stabenow and to elect Democrats to the Michigan Legislature.

I also look forward to utilizing this group as a resource to help myself and others get the job done.

since I'm moving in three weeks, it'll be a while before I can become a precinct captain again, but I'm so glad to see this group up!

3. WooHoo!
:woohoo:

I am here!

I am my precinct chair. My precinct was formerly unorganized, so I am looking for help building my precinct and also moral support on those days when it seems hard and unforgiving to be a grassroots organizer.

9. I am not the official precinct captain, but they weren't doing
anything so I took over the duties.

Those who do the work call the shots. Title means nothing.

In 2004 a small group took over our county's Democratic party campaign. The party insiders had to dance to our tune. We now have some of our insurgent group within the executive committee in the county and the state. Those who do the work call the shots.

Be bold.

One suggestion. Lose the table, grab a clipboard. Don't wait for them to come to you. You go to them. If you insist on tabling, get a messenger satchel and an ironing board. Set up anywhere there is a crowd and room for your board.

Be yourself

BTW, I am putting up a gif of a generic volunteer form for you to download. It prints out well on 8X10 paper. I will also put it in my journal. As you will see there is some space for other entries you would want to add, or if you want to put your organization/campaign name in the spaces, good.

The subject will be "Volunteer Form."

10. Precinct level politics are not a tradition in my state
But the national grassroots organizations are trying to make it one. That means a huge learning curve. Now I'm not the kind to go knocking on doors and talking to people, but I am in a position to oversee this kind of work so I'm here to learn what I can from the pros.
