hiya...used to work with a deaf person who taught me some signing
that was many years ago (about 20). I used to sign with him every day so got somewhat comfortable with signing, but then I changed jobs and have had not much opportunity since to practice.
One interesting tidbit is I ran into someone else soon after, who asked me who taught me, because it was very unsophisticated.
Turns out my former coworker, who was born deaf, was signing at a kids level, apparently.

anywho...just chiming in to give my support for this new forum!

1. Talking signing is kinda of easy, if you study....
but I find that listening to sign is really hard! I just can't catch/decipher what is being said! Maybe they are going too fast?

2. I always had a hard time signing AND talking at the same time.
which is a skill I would have had to have to try to be an interpreter. For some reason I could one or the other, but not both simultaneously.
:)

Usually, I found that if a deaf person knew they were talking to a hearing person, they'd slow down some.
