Teachers at several Catholic schools around the city are back on the job today a day after striking over contract terms.
While the Federation of Catholic Teachers has called off its strike -- a new contract still needs to be hashed out at the bargaining table. Meetings with the New York Archdiocese are planned for Friday.
More than a dozen schools were impacted when teachers walked out of class, starting last Friday.
The teachers accused the archdiocese of withholding information about health care coverage -- which has been a sticking point in contract talks. The archdiocese says it has provided the information.
The union's contract expired August 31st.
Meanwhile, the archdiocese plans to hold meetings with another teachers union on Thursday. The Lay Faculty Association has threatened to strike next week, during the pope's visit.
A union spokesman says members may hold an informational picket in front of a Yonkers seminary that the pope is scheduled to visit.
