The Latest: Construction worker dies, another critically injured in fall at new Wal-Mart
Erin Grace

One man died and another man was critically injured Sunday afternoon when they fell while working on the new Wal-Mart store under construction at 72nd and Hickory Streets.

Omaha police said the fall occurred shortly after noon.

The two workers were employed with D&Br Building Systems Inc. of Texas.

According to police, they were attaching corrugated panels to the roof when one gave away, causing them to fall about 25 feet onto some metal.

Both were taken to the Nebraska Medical Center in very critical condition, but one of the workers since has died.

The other worker remains in critical condition with injuries that are considered to be life-threatening.

1. Damn Sad....
I hope that the second worker is able to recover and is taken care of financially during and afterwords as should the family of the deceased worker. One wonders about the safety record of the builder and just why they were working on Sunday?

2. So the roof is as poor quality as...
the garbage in the stores for sale.
